Default 118. Party Of One

This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!!

Party Of One (5)

The melody, the lyrics and everything is as simple as Like A Rose. I don't like this kind of 3-chords punk-a-like music. The choir in the middle of the song is okay. Patti's na-na-na is wtf? So, it's not my fav at all.

My score: 5

party of one is a sped up 3 chorded rocker that Meat proved he could deliver. The quality of production of music is equally good. I dig the sound and I hope in future if Meat and co. make more music there will be more like this and pig and madness. HCTB really flexes Meat's rock chops and this song reminds me of that. The lyrical content reminds me of some of the most important people in my life so far. In a place where social media is the norm, Meat balances that with this delivery. Well done.

Song Of Madness and Pig are heavy rock songs. Party Of One is more punk than rock, not the same level to me...

I hear what you mean. In that case, more songs like Madness and Pig would kill. But ironically enough, I don't care enough for Monster these recent years. But thats for another thread :)

I always have to think of that silly argument he had with Star Jones on Celebrity Apprentice when hearing that part. I find that kind of annoying.

Anyway, I like the song, it's one of my favorites on the album. I don't think that it's "as simple as Like A Rose". There's variation with regard to pace, mood and music, the vocals are very good.

4. It has the makings of a good song, but it feels a bit incomplete.

Here are my raw remarks about this song from my initial review of the album over on my website:

Quote:
From the Dick Dale inspired riff, the listener is swept into a very real look into the life of Meat Loaf. This song really tells a pretty strong tale if you listen and holds no punches, as Meat Loaf sings about the frustrations about the way his past unfolded – “I used to keep a lot of people around who kept their hands over my eyes, ears, and mouth. Just like the money and the buzz they were gone in the morning.” I will let the listener fill in the blanks, but all I can say is I believe certain pairs of shoes were not only put away but tossed out in the rubbish with this track, and judging from the quality of the album – I say for the best.
I still say my words are fair.

I think the line, "Just like the money and the buzz they were gone in the morning" are some of the most poignant and meaningful words Meat Loaf has ever sang. They say so much about our modern day.

Agreed. Very strong and telling lyrics, great sound, vocals from Meat and production. Powerful song I would not have changed, it needs no improvement. One more 10 that contributed to the album's 10+ whole for me.

It's one of three songs (this, Fall From Grace and Blue Sky) from the album that I legitimately enjoy and go out of my way to listen to. I prefer it to "Like a Rose" :P I'd give it an 8 :)

Although I love slow songs ("Another Day"), I like "Party Of One". Why? Partly because I like ... love Meat's vocal, and partly because I pleased with Patti's na-na-na. What's more I like lyrics.
So, the question is : "What's the score?".

My score: 7,5/10

It's energetic but boring as hell. It almost feels like an empty song to me. I usually skip this one.

I love Meat's delivery and Patti's nanana's in this one. The song isn't my favorite but I give it a solid 7.

8 - nice little rocker, and I love the humour of the na na na nas.

ONe of my faves. This album has some really great songs on it, for me. It so hard to rate them. Catchy tune, love the lyrics, I am a fan of the na, na, na, na. Since I love it so much this one gets a 10.

Seems to follow the same theme as The Giving Tree.
That everything is set on a plate one minute and gone the next.
Meat seems to be happier about it though. He's either chosen to be alone, or he's come to terms with it.

I'm not a big fan of Punk, but I can see why WOH used the word, and I still quite like the song.
