I agree; I haven't been to a show yet where I didn't get at least a few gems. Of course, the setlist is only a part of the picture, and some of my favorite shows have had very "standard" setlists. I've seen almost every song I've really wanted to see at this point anyway. But still, every now and then there's that setlist that makes you go

If I were there, I'm sure I would have loved it, but I saw BTR twice, and I seemed to be a Backstreets magnet for a while, so I wouldn't have been gutted to miss that one. Of course, at this point, I'd be happy just to see a show- ANY show.

He rarely plays Tougher without Patti (though I know he did in Australia), so that was a lucky get!

I'm the exact opposite - I seem to always get Racing In The Streets rather than Backstreets...stunning every time but I'd give anything for Backstreets, we had it for our wedding music (that and R&R Dreams, it was a Bittan-fest! ) and I've managed to never see it live!

I find it so funny and interesting how it works out sometimes, how you might see one song often that other people are chasing, and vice versa. There seems to be somewhat of a geographical component to it as well.

The last (Dream) Tour, I got "Kitty's Back" three times out of six shows, and that song's somewhat rare.

I wanted "Incident" in the worst way, and I always seemed to miss it by a show. I finally saw it when he played the WIESS album in full, but I gave up getting it as a surprise, and since then I've seen it twice, both solo performances.

The only song I'm wishing for now is "The Promise".

Good luck getting "Backstreets" btw.

I guess it doesn't help if I say that Trini Lopez was one of his guests... Had so much fun singing "If I had a Hammer... whoooooohoooo-hoooo-hooo"

Home so can "type" this:

'I've just seen...the heart-stopping, pants-dropping, house-rocking, earth-quaking, booty-shaking, Viagra-taking, love-making -
Le-gen-dary E - Street - Band!"

The exceptionally brilliant Kenny Rogers.

This was the second time we've seen him, he'd obviously aged since 2009 (haven't we all!) and I think appeared tired from Glastonbury, but he was absolutely outstanding yet again.

He is effortless, it almost looks like he's not bothered but the voice coming out is perfect! Extremely funny too, he had the audience in stitches...a wonderful night from a true gentleman

Default The Boss / Bon Jovi / Toto

Seeing Bruce yesterday in Mönchengladbach/Germany:
Can one of the many diehards here tell me about "Trapped"? Which album?
Also loved the powerfull live versions of Man`s Job and Mary`s Place.
Was bored at the start, sound was bad, daylight didn`t help, but he and his band of 16(!) finally won me over again. And there still is some Bat relation in the band plus some of the piano-parts sounding like Jim they could have come from genius Jim.

We saw Bon Jovi last month in Cologne too. I know of his reputation being an a...hole and he may be one the way he handles Richie Samborra (which probably only few insiders can really judge). And he is less the genuine performer like Springsteen, more American showman. But he can put on one hell of a show! And he deserves more credibility, changing setlists and even variations inside songs massively from night to night. BTW, obviously singing live for the most part. Bottom line: over-the-top!

Another highlight has been Toto, closer "Home Of The Brave" being worth attending alone.

Not everything this year was great though, don`t ask me about Whitesnake or Rihanna...

Trapped is a cover from Jimmy Cliff. Bruce and the band started to play it during the River tour. One of the very very few covers which regularly still comes back. Probably because the Bruce arrangement is pretty strong I think.

A live version recorded on the River Tour can be found on the bonus disc of "The Essential Bruce Springsteen" set. I love seeing it live; it's one of the few songs I remember him playing the first time I saw him, also on the River Tour.

I think you have that reversed; the Bat parts came from genius Roy.

Are you talking about Bruce or Bon Jovi mixing up setlists and arrangements? I don't know about JBJ, but Bruce is a master at both of those things.

(Despite Bruce does it too) I was talking about Bon Jovi! Their - well, his - gig was the best non-Meat gig we saw in ages.

I just saw Lynyrd Skynyrd tonight; "Freebird" was dedicated to "Everybody up in Rock n' Roll Heaven".

Bruce, again two nights running. Cardiff and Leeds. Incredible, memorable nights both of them.

You wait 30 odd years for Roulette and then two come along

Leeds First Direct Arena is a fantastic venue, would have loved to have seen Meat in there, but that that seems unlikely now sadly.

Matchbox Twenty and the Goo Goo Dolls. Went with friends and had ZERO expectations. By the end of the night I was sold! Great musicianship by both bands especially MB20.
