Default 17. Midnight At The Lost And Found

This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!!

Midnight At The Lost And Found (6)

A western song by Meat Loaf? No! The best rock-western-band is Bon Jovi. It's not typical Meat song. He can't show his voice in this song. He is jabbering away this song and nothing else more...

My score: 6 (and then I have good heart)

Average: 5.92 (71/12)

Not one of my favorites, but not a bad song all the same.
This was Meat's first album away from Jim Steinman (apart from Meat Loaf & Stoney)and the fantasy art covers. The music is very different in style so it took me a couple of weeks to get under it's skin, except Razor's Edge which jumped off the album and grabed me by the throat (also Wolf At Your Door and Fallen Angel).
I think Midnight (the song) is lika a story from The Twilight Zone.I just have this image of a little club in the middle of nowhere that no one can leave. The beer is flowing and the jukebox plays on,but everybody has always been there and they always will be.A strange interperatation ,it's just how it hits me.
It's a hard song to sing.Every time I sing it at work my chest hurts like hell. There are not many places in the song where you can take a good deep breath.
7/10 Not Lost.

Midnight is a very special song I think. On the Midnight album, it isn't to bad, but i also think that it isn't a really great song.

But live, live it's superb. Great, specially the drums are great.

And indeed it's the first album without Steinman, so I think it was very hard for Meat Loaf to make it.

The song from the album an 7
The song played live an 9.5

I think that this song is the best (with Razor's Edge and Fallen Angel) of the midnight album.

Live it sounds best. Especially the end eighties versions, and the Version on Liver Around The World. The best version is the accoustic versions on the Very Best Tour, especially Rotterdam 1999.

I will give it a 8/9

Default Drumming

My favourite part of the song is Max Weinberg's drumming.

this album is dreadfull, it's horrible. i just can not listen to it. i do not have it on cd, only on record and i do not have a recordplayer anymore. i haven't heard this whole f... album for more then 10 years. This song is horrible. i only like the live versions and nothing else.
Meat has made the best album i have ever heard and he also made the worst album i have ever heard.

I give this song a 1 on the album and a 8 for the live versions.

Midnight is back... and so am I!

My fave on the Midnight album (with Razor's Edge).
Love the drums, and above all, love Meat's backvocals at the end!
But I have no idea what this song is about...

The first time I heard it live it was in 1994 in Zürich.
And I do love seeing Meat playing the guitar on it! Midnight rocks live!

8/10

ps: and it's a much better choice than I'd Lie For You on the present setlist... sorry!

This and If You Really Want To are the only good songs on the album. I love this song. It's the ultimate rave. 10/10.

The new live version of MATLAF is GREEEEAAAT!
The intro took my breath away!

11/10 live!

ps: I confirm, it's a much better choice than I'd Lie For You... no doubt!!!

Couldn't agree more Patricia, I've always rated this song as a better live one than it is a studio one. It was superb when it was "rocked up" with screaming guitars in 1984, and 20 yrs later the current live version just blows me away every time.

10/10 live
7/10 for the recorded version.

This isn't one of those songs you have your DAYS with, it's just always and constantly exciting. I sang this at a bar last year and I got stellar reception. But, yes, the live one is a lot better. I love the live one!! I kind'a wish they'd have put it on the Australian Bonus CD for CHSIB.
Any idea if he'll play this in Melbourne?

I like this one - best from this album (although that's not too tricky :) )

Also was fantstic live.

My main problem with the album as a whole is it's lack of ambition.

I reckon 7.5 / 10.

Really not good.
The best part is where the melody changes in the second part.

it's ok. i will always like it as it was on The Very Best, which was my first introduction to Meat, on which I loved everything. Now it pales in comparasin to many others.

6.5/10
