Well, right now, they're stressing an emphasis on Bat, and they've teased mainly I with a smattering of II in all the releases so far. Paul also says on Facebook that Braver tunes will be added to the set at some point, though he made it sound like it wouldn't be immediately (or maybe that's just how I read it). Based on that, I think there will be a stronger emphasis on Steinman tracks than non-Steinman, and that it will be mainly classic hits with a smattering of possible obscurities and new ones. Further, I think all of the first Bat will be reflected in the show, given that was originally the major selling point.

Also, as nice as "Body" would be, I don't think they're gonna do songs Meat hasn't recorded...

Doubt you'd get a single Meat Loaf song from the 80s beyond Dead Ringer For Love.

I think something like (also considering its gonna be casino shows first):

Bat album (in order)
Dead Ringer For Love

Encore:
Frying Pan
AFL
Mercury Blues

is more likely.

I love that the run time for the encore set is about what most acts play for in total hehehe

Although my favorite track is "Did I Say That", and I like some of the non-Steinman tracks (for example: "ICHSIB" or "Masculine"), I don't think that there will be non-Steinman track during concert. So my wish list is only Steinman tracks:

Bat (album - maybe in order)
"Dead Ringer For Love"
"I'd Do Anything For Love"

encore:
"Surf's Up"
"I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us"
"Skull Of Your Country"

Ah, what the hell. I'll indulge in unrealistic fantasy just this once.

My ideal set, be it for BAT or Meat, would be a just-the-Steinman evening, everything ever released on a single to increase the chances the audience has heard more than just the two Bats. I take my cue from the way the Live Around the World CD was structured, with a few twists and turns along the way.

Act One
  1. I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)
  2. You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)
  3. Life Is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back
  4. Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through
  5. Is Nothing Sacred
  6. Dead Ringer for Love
  7. Surf's Up
  8. All Revved Up With No Place to Go
  9. Paradise by the Dashboard Light
  10. Read 'Em and Weep
  11. Peel Out

Act Two
  1. Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are
  2. I'm Gonna Love Her for Both of Us
  3. Nowhere Fast
  4. No Matter What
  5. Two Out of Three Ain't Bad
  6. A Kiss Is a Terrible Thing to Waste
  7. It's All Coming Back to Me Now
  8. Bat Out of Hell
  9. Speaking in Tongues
  10. Going All the Way (A Song in Six Movements)

It's not going to happen, but I'd really like to see an exploration of Meat's entire body of work, not just Bat and the usual suspects from Bat 2 for the umpteenth time. Tackle It Just Won't Quit, Everything Louder or Good Girls Go to Heaven instead of Frying Pan and Lemon. Play 2-3 obscure songs, like Did I Say That, Testify, Not a Dry Eye or Piece of the Action. It's perfectly possible to play a crowd-pleasing set without resorting to Bat start to finish + Frying Pan, Lemon, Dead Ringer and 3-4 songs from whatever album is being flogged at the time of the show (in this case Braver, I guess).

I can't see why songs such as Rock N Roll Hero, Did I Say That?, Surf's Up, Bad Attitude, Modern Girl, I'll Kill You if You Don't Come Back and More than You Deserve wouldn't be crowd pleasers.

I'd be impressed if they tackled the full 12 minute Braver but anything else from that last album? Meh, I'd much rather have some of the "obscure" 80s stuff listed above to be honest.

I can't see there'll be any surprises. Bat 1, Anything For Love, maybe Dead Ringer, a couple from 'Braver'. Even Meat himself rarely threw out surprises live, so I doubt this show will.

At best 10% of a concert audience want the rarities. 90% demand the obvious tunes, and will be disgruntled if they don't hear them.

It's a tribute act and just like any tribute act they can play anything they like, but they will most likely stay close to the hits/better-known-songs of the artist they are paying tribute to (or try to make money of).

Always thought it's funny Meat attracted several "tribute" acts who never went to watch his shows or even liked him much. Some "tribute".

^ Which is why I think we should be cutting the current one some slack, granted that their launch wasn't the smoothest ever. It's at least got people Meat hand-picked to be in his band up on that stage, instead of someone trying to profit off of him without having even a modicum of respect for him.

You know, in the end they are just a tribute act.

If, at the same time, Meat would do a simple show, sitting on a chair, telling stories and perhaps singing a song or two with Billy Joe on guitar, Johnny East on drums and Franky Teardrop on a keyboard, I still rather see Billy Joe over Paul Crook. Not because I dislike Paul Crook but I am in it for mr Loaf. And Billy Joe, Johnny East and Freddie teardrop are, at that time, the Neverland Express. Simply because it's the name of Meat's band, no matter who else plays in it.

That said, I wish Caleb and Paul the same success as any tribute act.

So many bands these days change lead singers or lose original members and it changes lineups until it is mostly just the name. I'm not sure how many acts are considered to be official by the original artist. I can't see 99% of the public who would attend this going to hear stuff from"Midnight at the Lost and Found" except for Meat was involved in writing it. If anything from the 80's is there it would likely be "Dead Ringer". I don't know anything about royalties and copyrights that would need to be dealt with so I am guessing they stick with Steinman's material for many reasons. They will probably be on the casino circuit and in the US probably stick to the Northeast like Meat usually seems to do.

When did The Neverland Express become The Neverland Band?

Presumably when the name was agreed by all to meet all legal and copyright requirements
