I thought I posted this earlier today, but apperently not.
Let's try again: the surf is up, and a part of him too. Do you get it now, or do we need to whip out (pun intended) the E-word? :)
Don't you go whipping anything out.... you'll have someones eye out with that

It's actually another song from Jim's NEVERLAND. Peter baptises Wendy into the pack - by the waters of the purple surf. I assume it was done very sexually, because of the lyrics. Jim originally intended "Took the Words" to be used for this scene - but he wrote another song.

yeah, i know that. Read it in Phenomenanonoanenoom of Excess.

I always thought it had to do with the beach and the waves or something like that, you know: surfing, surfboard. I am still not sure its all about having a b..er.

You want me to believe that?
There're much less explicits lyrics on Meat's songs and you're stuck on that one?!

What about Jumping The Gun? I am (almost) sure it ain't nothing to do with Flying Mouse's explanation...

It was also about Jim's explanation of the song in that book, the phenonanenoununonmenon... It was about Peter en Wendy at the beach. So never thought of the sex-thing.

in this song you can clearly hear Jim Steinman vocal Abbility (hope i spell that right) or better to say his limitations, i know Steinman composed some great music but to hear him sing slow songs like this is Awful

musically the original version is better than Meat ones but i still prefer a good voice above a minor version

i give all version an 7

Too bad that he didn't sing that on Bad For Good then, isn't it? Vocal credits go to Rory "Turn around, bright eyes" Dodd :)

On the free 7" / 45RPM single that came with my BFG LP, it says under "Surf's Up" "Rory Dodd: Featured Vocals". It's a public secret that Jim didn't sing "Surf's Up" and "Lost Boys and Golden Girls" on his record :)

And for going deaf: what's wrong with BOOH being the last thing you ever hear? :D

I always read it like that too.

I really think this could be a show stopper live, though I guess we won't be hearing many (any?) non-Bat songs on the coming tour?

6. I like it, but not a patch on Steinman's original.
