Let's pray you get it White Of High. I totally denounce fans getting special privileges. Everyone should be treated equal. I hope you get it. Actually, I'm praying on my life you will. And peoples, don't talk over me

We won't talk over you if you don't talk tosh .. but presume it's OK to respond?

The only reason I asked if these would be sold through a fanclub website is that I have no idea what the distribution costs to sell 20 CDs (given each show is on one .. I don't know if that is the case) through normal retail outlets worldwide, but imagine it would be prohibitive and certainly discourage recording companies unless they anticipated huge sales.

Releasing them for sale just in the UK could be viewed as being limited, unless for eg Amazon and HMV took them on board. But people wpuld no doubt get friends to purchase on their behalf, just as they would ig they were sold through a fansite.

I was just asking the question, so try not to get sniffy Ryan. Let's see what the answer is, but my guess is that the economics will have to be taken into account. Let's just be glad they WILL be made available, and any way Meat decides, rather than start finding a problem :)

Is it April already? There are a few options the way those cd's can be sold. A little extra information. A few bands already release their shows on cd: Duran Duran, The Who, Pearl Jam. In record shops here in The Netherlands i've seen several copies of shows from Pearl Jam. Though never seen Duran Duran and The Who in store. So that's one option, to distribute it to record stores. Another option is to buy them online. From the three artists mentioned above you can order them at: http://www.themusic.com The price of a single show is app. $25 There is also a possibility to buy a collector box including all shows. You better start saving some money... And last but not least Meat Loaf could choose to sell them at his own site. Don't think he will though, cause he l probably wants to reach a large audience and not everybody is aware of his site.

I would guess that these would mostly through the new official Meat Loaf website, although that is PURELY a guess. This is because I can't see most shops or websites being interested in holding huge amounts of similar CDs. Having said that, all the music stores round my way have a decent stock of Meaty albums at the moment, especially Live Around The World. Perhaps a compilation of all the best versions of each song might do well commercially.

But anyway, I don't think that doing it through his official site would be unfair - I've not heard anything (from the newsletter that I signed up to) about having to pay for ALL access to the site, so I would imagine that it is only premium content you would have to pay for. Any CDs etc would surely be sold on the free access bit, otherwise you are limiting your potential audience.

How can you talk over someone on a website anyway?

Anyway, I can't wait for the CDs to be released - Meat's voice is fantastic and the band really rocks. It would be nice to have some of Kasim's opening songs on it too.

Kasim is planning to record his forthcoming solo gig on Staten Island on 7th February for a DVD / CD so you will be able to get hold of a copy of his live music.

Nor can I really, even for one of the flavour of the year bands for kids. And unless Meat wants to get into the distribution business, you'd need a recording company to take this on anyway.

Yes, and of course that could have reference to the fansite in the notes :)

That's what I was thinking this morning. I bought one of the Peter Gabriel cds from the music.com. They only released the US shows so I couldn't get the one I went to at Wembley. They were sold via that website which was linked from his main fan site.

It will be great to be able to buy a copy of the show I was at. It's always great to have some live stuff anyway. The question is will I be able to stick at just one??

Great news and what a good idea!!!
I really hope that the Sheffield gig from 15th Jan is released as this was a great gig and has had a good reaction from the fans who have been to a lot of the UK shows.

Great news also Meat - its about time we got some recent live stuff!

I would have thought a videotape taken with presumably a pretty small camcorder held aloft a few rows back from the front would be just about as poor quality as you could get.

I dunno, a video from the front row would be pretty poor. You wouldnt get the whole of the stage in lol.

I have 100's of Bon jovi bootlegs (bootlegs are very much normal with Bon Jovi shows and something Jon actually promotes) and they are all taken from further back in the crowd. Plus the sounds better from further back, not on top of the speakers.

What a silly bloody statement, of course it's fair. If Meat isn't going to widely distribute the tapes, CD's or whatever then why not let the members of the OIFC get first pickings? What do they pay their membership fee for? I'm not a member and have no real desire to become one; but if I was, then I'd be pretty pissed off if I wasn't near the front of the queue and they ran out by the time it came to me.

Yes that maybe true but it's amazing how when something is on offer how many "LURKERS" come out of the woodwork and ask for a copy, without any inclination to share what they've got with a few other people. I ask you, if you WERE a member of say The Jim Steinman Fan Club and paid $20 a year for the privilege and something came out, wouldn't you want first pickings? You'd spit the dummy bigtime if your neighbour who isn't a member got whatever it was before you.

The release of UK board tapes is the best news that I've heard in months! (The only thing that could possibly top that news is the booking of another US leg of the tour! ) Whether released just in the UK or through the soon to be running (hopefully!) new official site, I see no inequity in the distribution of them. Even if only released in limited countries, those who really want a CD can get them. I got the UK and Austrailian versions of CHSIB quite easily, and I would imagine it would be similar with these board tapes. (And lets be honest, it would most assuredly be worth a bit of effort to get board tapes of live Meat shows!) I see my credit card bill growing by the moment....there's no way I can buy just one...or one dozen...oy, my husband will not be allowed to view the bills for a good while after these tapes are released!

Thanks for the great news Meat! You are too good to us!

Hi Fire Ball!
Great news that you will make some show recordings available for us!
Just one small plea: is it possible that you will also release a copy of the show in Trier?

Please, please, don't take me wrong: I'm not one of these "but"-sayers(good with the UK-copys but can you ...)
It is just that the show in Trier meens very much to me personally, I think it was pure magic and you guys on stage seems to feel that also.

If it is impossible to release the Trier show I will happily buy one (or more) of the UK shows

Have a great time

Yvonne

Exactly that is the reason that makes me attend multiple shows. Meat lifts the songs up to another level, different each night! Unlike sterile sounding Celine Dion. Unlike reproducing musical productions. Unlike anything...

I.e. I would kill for a recording of the "GIVE ME SOME FIRES" part in Frying Pan! So having the shows released on audio is too good to be true!

As he said in an German interview:

"I am not lazy.... I'm just slow!"

So I hope that this Concert-cd doesn't make any conflict with the Australian Orchestra version, which seems definitely to be in planning..... *everypossiblefingercrossed* 2 live CDs in one year... cannot wait to see them!
