Thing is, with parody, to take ANY recognisable feature, and exagerate it beyond all preportion. Put it this way. It's the mid 80's. Picture.............. A Meat Loaf SPITTING IMAGE DUMMY. Same thing. The number one characteristic is that it would be FAT. It would probablly eat a lot because............. A. it's how people put on weight. B. He has a name which is also the name of a type of food. C. It's a running gag, and shows like that THRIVED on running gags. Yeah, so a parody isn't always the most respectful thing to do in the world, but anyone well known in the world has got to accept the possibility of immitation and parody. No matter what you are well known for. The thing that these kind of things reveal the most is about the artist themselves. Most artists just do not acknowledge parodies. Either pretend they ain't seen them, or they guenuinly HAVEN'T seen them. Some artists applaude, and sometimes even help out with parodies of themselves. John Belushi did a LEATHAL parody of Joe Cocker on Saturday Night Live, yet Joe went on the show with John and did a sketch with him where they were dressed in matching outfits and John was mimicking Cocker's movements as he sang. I think that show gave people the impression that Joe Cocker is a pretty good egg Worst thing to do is to jump up and down about it as it shows the artist has "no sence of humour". Agree with Chris aswell, Pull My Finger is pretty damn funny |

I really do like my parody humour to be just a bit more than just taking the mick out of one aspect though, there wasn't really a lot of thought put into this was there?

As you can see, John was not doing anything greatly original. He was singing a Joe Cocker song, in the style of Joe Cocker, dressed as Joe Cocker, immitating Joe Cocker, WITH Joe Cocker Least inthe TFTRAR parody they made an effort to write a newsong |

The best parody I've EVER seen was Mike Myers doing Mick Jagger...and Mick Jagger doing Keith Richards...
THAT was something ABSOLUTELY out of this world... |
