:) Meat Loafs vocals, power and emotion make this a great song.10 out of 10 for me. Whoever says zero is immune to this and thats their loss.

Nearly everything that you can read about that song is that Meat was trying to copy his AFL sucess with a nearly similar sounding song.

Itīs not bad, but for my taste itīs missing something like a clue.
Itīs just the old story a man loves a woman - ... - end.
No difficulties or shyness or broken hearts that would make the song intesting.
But the pathos is given...

I don't think this sounds like AFL. It's a good song. but I don't know what it is about DW... she's not really what i want to hear Meat do... MMMMmmmm.

Great song. Just let down by a little 'cheese' here and there.

When I first heard it, it sounded very much like AFL. So... I dismissed it. Now though I love it.

I've just finished reading Gary Barlow's biography My Take in which he talks about working with Diane Warren. Gary says Diane told him that every song she wrote was about her late dad so they're not traditional love songs as such, but about a daughter's love for her lost dad. Certainly puts a different slant on ILFY. Not sure how it applies to COM though.

In my opinion, this song is better when performed on stage with Patti than their original duet on the album.
And I don't forget the video clip either, conceived as a little movie.

A pale imitation of 'Anything For Love'. I programme out 'I'd Lie For You' and 'If This Is The Last Kiss' whenever I listen to 'Welcome To The Neighbourhood' (which then becomes a superb album!).
'Not A Dry Eye In The House' should have been the lead single - with the aforementioned other tracks as B-sides.
There are some good solid live versions of 'I'd Lie For You' out there - the best one being from Melbourne, where Loaf drops the unnecessary straining-voice of the recorded version.

I was just going to say how Melbourne 2004 sounds real good in comparison with 1995. The strings lift as the solo is lifting. Fascinating!
