I don't want to state the obvious here but it's about time somebody did, why don't you all send your "Meat don't go" "We love you Meat" "You're the best ever" type messages to his Private Mailbox? or is it some sort of competition to see who can come up with the most soppy message possible in front of everyone and try to appear to be his biggest fan?

I'm a Meat Loaf fan but I know that if there's a message I wanted him to read then I'd send it personally. How much time do you think the bloke has to read all the sycophantic crap that gets written here?

You say that but how much time do you think he has to read all his private messages!! I bet he's got more than 100 private messages at this moment in time! I also think its unfair to say that this is sycophantic crap, because alot of what is written on here are peoples true feeling! I sure know that alot of what i write on here are my true feelings, and i find that it is rude to judge (or whatever your doing) people who are more sensitive than others!!

I swore to myself that i wouldnt get involved but that just annoys me soo much!!!!

Don't you think there's a better chance of him readin a Private Message than wading through the zillions of posts a day (or whatever it is) that gets posted here?.

If they're your true feelings (I doubt it at only 14 and I don't mean that in a nasty way) then why share them for everyone to see? what are you achieving by doing that?. Are you expecting a pat on the head or a magic Meat genie to come knocking on your door and wisk you a way on the back of an Harley? because if you are then it aint ever gonna happen.

Everyone who posts here is a fan of Meat Loaf to a greater or lesser degree and no one can say that they're a bigger fan than somebody else. I don't need to tell him how I feel on an open forum because it's nobody elses business.

Why is it that just because i'm 14 it means that I can't have true feelings? I'm still human you know!! I know what I feel and you can't tell me that i can't feel somthing true!! Its not a case of what I'm achieving, but more along the lines of gaining!! Sharing my feelings with people makes me feel alot better than keeping it to myself and critising other people who do have a sensitive side! I don't care if there are a few people who don't give a damn about what i have to say, thats far enough, but i know that at least one person out of this whole website might agree with me or might feel the same, so i'm am more than happy to show my senistive side to everyone else!!
And no i'm not expecting a pat on the head or Meat to come knocking on my door!! All i can say is that I am a young woman not a little baby, and i would like to be treated with respect and not stereotyped!!

well seeing as we are supposed to hide how we feel, i wont do that but i will say this, you are so insulting, i got into meat at an age younger than heli, and to assume she doesnt know her own feelings because of her age is the most ludicrous thing i have heard in a long time
That said i am not going to argue, i very rarely come on here any more not just due to the fights, but due to a lot of personal things going on, but largely due to the arguements, and things on here, i have found out lately life is too short to waste on a place where peoples feelings and thoughts count for nothing.
meat you inspired me to combat asthma, to a degree i got my life back to normal after being told by doctors i never would, for this i thank you, in a way mere words never could convey. ( as told to meat in pm many months ago)

for the music and the concerts, i also thank you, the music has got me through so many hard times and is doing so right now, and for the concert in belfast, for that thanks a million you gave the kids a most memorable evenings entertainment that will stay with them forever.
this was also told to meat in a pm.
if you do decide to call it quits, you do so not only leaving people sad but also with many memories they will never forget, from the fantastic concerts you have played over the years, and dont let any person tell you different, most of us came away from the gigs with a night that would never be topped.
any way if this is to much soppiness for any one quite frankly, i dont care, i dont write the words to be judged for any medal or best meat fan, i am just another meat fan who is going to miss the gigs, but is thank full their was a singer/ actor called meat loaf in the first place.
kezzina

thankyou for the good times meat.
as usual any grammer mistakes i apologise.

I can't believe that we can't even tell Meat how we feel without having debates. This is not what Meat need to see right now. If you don't like people talking about their feelings then don't read this thread.

Meat, it upsets me to see you end this way. I always thought I would see you one more time. However, I respect your decsion. I truly hope you all the best at what ever you decide to do. Please take care and get the well deserve rest you need.

Thankyou for everything. Others have said what I wanted to say already, much better then I can do. I look forward to Bat3 and anything else you decide to do.

With Love,

Sherry

I'm sorry but i don't understand how people can complain about an artist sounding different live to on a cd.
CD's are great for listening to music at home or in the car (Meat if you want to sing live in the back of our car let me know and we'll arrange a time).

But you can't beat hearing an artist live. Obviously it's going to sound different, accoustics are different for a start. On CD's you don't get the atmosphere, you don't see the action, power, feelings that go into a live performance. My kids were amazed to see how funny Meat was when we saw him at the NEC. They were blown away by his voice. I was lucky enough to see him when he did Bat II, so seeing him this tour was an added bonus but when we came out of Bat II we said next time we bring the kids (we only had 2 then). Unfortunately my youngest is only 3 and although his does sing BOOH in the car he was too young for the concert but i live in hope we will get to take him at some stage to see Meat.

My 6 yr old drove everyone crazy telling them from the day we got the tickets that she was going to see Meat. We didn't get home till after midnight but she still got up for school so she could wear her t-shirt and tell everyone how good it was.

Meat, just do what is right for you. Look after yourself and when the tour is over take some time out to spend with your family. And take some time out for yourself.

Loads of love

Thank you very much Meat for gracing this earth for the past 50+ years.

I will be attending the concert on 17th March in Christchurch. It was to be special for me for personal reasons: because it was to be the only (likely) time I'd see you live after all this time of being a fan.

But now I find out that this concert will also be important because you say that it will be your last ever.

I am surprised that you chose to make the second NZ concert your final one. In some ways I am honoured as a NZer, but I thought it would be more fitting for your final concert to be in a place that has a better record of traditionally supporting you. While I wish that the record company and fellow NZers had supported you more, the truth is that audiences and record companies in the UK and the rest of Europe, and the US, have been better supporters of you.

So I thought it might be appropriate to add a few more shows (after NZ) in the US, where it all started for you, and perhaps in Europe as well, to say goodbye to them. I'm not sure many of them realised that the second NZ show would be your last.

In any case, I'm looking forward to attending the Christchurch show on 17th March and I'm sure I will have a great time, although I will be saddened by your decision to say goodbye.

Absolutely right tink .... thank you !!
Meat's going through a very difficult time ... he's always been there for us, and now it's time for us to come together and show our support and love for him. And if feeling that way makes me a sycophant in your eyes Spud, I really don't give a damn !!!!

Thank you Meat for being there for me with your shows and music when I needed it the most. From the bottom of my heart, I say LOVE YOU, BLESS YOU, and thank you very very much thank you.

Dear Meat,

I havenīt see your live-shows because of the distance (I live in Finland and Iīm poor student) But I have seen in ROL your live perfofmances and those are UNCREDIBLE.

All your fans knows that your been sick, but if your concert been sold out it means only one thing: They LOVES you. Your fans truly loves you from the bottom of their hearts.

Itīs true that you donīt sounds like in BAT1 but as matter of fact it doesnīt bother me at all. I think that you sounds a little better now than in 78. And remember that technology is better know than it used to be so it will explain why you sounds different now.

Love you,

Heidi

Dear Meat,

I hope this is not true, that your last show is on 17th March.
My greatest wish is, that you come back and do many, many shows for us , the really true fans.

love

Ive never really used these message forums very much (so I'll make this long); seems it only takes one or two people to stir up a lot of bad feeling (and here we go again on this thread too) but Ive always wondered why Meat feels like he owes these people an explanation? explanations that, as a fan, Ive found quite upsetting to read. Meat, those critics, whether they are from the media or just random posters on here they really are nothing in the shadow of your army of fans. You must have the loyalist and most adoring fans, bar no one else.

But reading what Ive read on here over the past months, Ive never felt as distant as a fan. Its so very sad that Meat obviously feels that he cant even escape from those sharks on here - his own fan forum; I think now I understand why after all these years he would want to call it quits. I keep asking myself how much torment and abuse one man can really deal with in a lifetime? From the day that I became a fan, after hearing Bat II for the very first time, I have always wished people would just leave him alone. Trying to explain to people that Meat Loaf - that big, scary, mad-man you see on stage is just another character given life by the quiet and sensitive ML Aday but it never seems to wash with anyone.

Meat, Im blown away by what Ive heard from this tour. Youve fired new life into those songs. So much so that I cant seem to bring myself to listen to the original studio recordings anymore. With illness and a death-wish tour schedule, it was never going to be possible to be riding the wave every night. But why do you do so many shows? When Bon Jovi tour the UK, they hire a couple of really big venues and let the fans come to them. But youve always tortured yourself for us and I guess old habits die hard. I know; I didnt enjoy being at the Glasgow show. I watched you on stage and could find no way to find enjoyment in watching a sick human being give everything he had that night. And although I left that night feeling sad I left with so much more love and respect in my heart for you just because you were there battling against everything the way that you always have done, everyday of your incredible career.

So big guy, this is my little tear for you. You can stop touring and stop releasing records, but you will never find a way to leave us. If it wasnt for you, I know that I wouldnt be here now. Nor would I have the heart to wake up in the morning and face the world and find a smile in the fights that life throws. Last night, after I read that you said you were quitting, I wiped away the tears and went to work in a busy student bar wearing the Meat Loaf football shirt if only you really knew how many people out there love and respect you maybe your sadness would not be so deep. Thank you for everything that you have given. My life is richer because of you.

I posted this on OIFC this morning, but wanted to add it here as well . . . hope that's OK. Here goes -

Although Meat's decision saddens me, I can certainly understand it.

It's been a tough year for him healthwise and the rigors of a full-blown tour schedule would strain even the strongest of us. I have a hard enough time mowing the lawn sometimes!

However, I'd like to just put out an idea to Meat and all of you. Remember, this is just a thought - not a whine that Meat change his mind if he doesn't want to.

Meat - would you be willing to consider smaller venues? I've seen some pretty excellent shows at the smaller places here in NOLA and only offer it as a suggestion. JazzFest immediately comes to mind! The first time I heard the Storytellers CD (can't seem to get my hands on the DVD), I had the impression that the venue it was done in was fairly small and that you were just having the best time interacting with the audience!

Then, after seeing you twice during the JFH tour, I was totally captivated by your ability to really get out there and "touch" the fans. You are a natural when it comes to being with people and making them have a wonderful time. Even my grouchy now ex was impressed! Do you know he was actually jealous of you and your ability to make so many people happy!

In the end, it is always Meat's decision and I'll respect that. I only hope that he will remeber just how much he means to so many of the people that come to see him.

With much love and affection - Debbi V

I would just like to add my thoughts to everybody else's.

If you don't feel that you can continue touring I completely understand. Your health has got to come first and as you said you have had lots of health problems during this tour. Also if you don't want to do them, they would be missing a spark that comes from somewhere inside you. A show without this would be missing something special.

All the real fans will enjoy your music regardless of whether or not we can see you live.

Meat, I am so sorry that you're going through such a rough patch in your life. You are a good and kind man and through your huge talent you have given SO much - you are a world treasure. You deserve to feel joy! - like at the end of a show, with your arms spread wide, your head back, mouth open a little as if you are "tasting" the audience's love and approval.

Your voice now has a certain quality that it didn't in 1978. I don't have the knowledge or terminology to properly discuss it, but that quality absolutely SHINES in CHSIB. Age doesn't usually improve us physically :) so I don't know if that "quality" is part of your actual voice or whether it comes from your skill in using it?? I don't know, but either way, YOU, NOW, are a phenomenon.

Your fans will support you whatever direction you take. Get your joy back! But whatever you do, don't give up your dream.

All my love and deepest respect as well,
-Kathy

Feleena, have you been peeking in my windows again? It seems nearly the only time I get to listen to music is in the car or while doing chores. I was actually looking forward to vacuuming and dusting my home today as I got to watch the London Meltdown concert while doing it. And everynight with the dishes, it's always just me and either WTTN or Kasim's QPQ. What my house would look like if I didn't have my Meat music while I clean- horrors!
