testify is something 'different' it can only win meat more fans, plus some people only buy analbum once they've heard a few songs from it and it sounds good. Testify will help album sales

Plymouth covered the south west fans and was IMO a great gesture to try to ensure all fans could get to a venue.....
I am so happy to hear the news that Testify will be released as a single I have worn out both this track and Tear Me Down since I got the album and have been saying to everyone over and over that I hoped either would be released as a single......wonder what will be with it would be great if it was a previously unreleased track

Oh, what GLORIOUS news to come here and find that Testify is the next UK single and BOY is set for the Germany and Holland!!

Great choices!! Meat must be testing to see how each song does in both markets before releasing either song anywhere else!!

BOY is so easy to listen to. It should capture a LOT of peoples' hearts and do well in these markets!!

Eva's German website states that BOY will NOT have a video, though. And if that's true, there is great hope for one for Testify, I would think.

FireBall has told us that the funding for videos these days is very limited. So, perhaps the entire budget is going to one for Testify!! And this is GREAT news because if ever a song cried out to be an ML video, in the 'style' we all consider to be a Meat video, it was THIS one!!! Can't you just picture it?!! (Love the gospel choir idea, by the way!! )

I fell in love with this song the very first time I heard it and, like so many of you, feel THIS is the one which could go all the way to Number 1 around the world!!

I'm SO excited! I can't wait!!

I bet, in terms of promotion, that the time Meat IS in the UK in early July will be a busy one for him (aside for the 2 concerts), either doing promotions or getting them ready for the later release of both singles. I, too, had wondered why he was breaking up the first US leg of the tour by going to England in the middle, but now it all begins to make sense, doesn't it?!

Great news, friends! SO happy to get this today!!

Thanks!

Love to all,
MB

Default Choice of singles

Because Of You would be well down my list of personal choices for singles (maybe I'm just nitpicking here). I have said elsewhere on this forum that I think it is one of the weaker songs on this album, but I'm sure Meat and his management know what they're doing (I've certainly got faith in them!).

My choice of singles would be (not necessarily all of these or in this order):

DIST (released in Germany, why not elsewhere?)
CHSIB (already released)
Man Of Steel
Testify
Tear Me Down

But MOST importantly, I hope that there are no problems with future singles as there was for CHSIB.

I hope to see more b-sides on the future singles. I remember someone saying there were 17 songs recorded for the album. If that were true, there might be one or two more if you include the Intermezzo and Crazy About A Mercury. Shadowland, written by Steve Earle, is the only other `unreleased' b-side I know of, and maybe another song by Diane Warren.

I am so excited to hear this news! I also think that Testify is more commercially appealing than CHSIB, it really just appeals to so many kinds of people and fans of differing musical styles. I envision ML at a tent revival in front of a massive gospel choir in purple robes for the chorus, with a sort of old Western feel for the rest of the song. I guess I get this idea from the "hellhounds on your trail" intro, but who knows where these images come from- my subconscious must be a disorganized and scary place.
Because of You is also a great choice, does anyone else think it odd that Germany has gotten more ballad-ish songs while England is getting the rockers? We all know that Germans can rock, whats up with that?
Now I am left wondering what singles will be released here in the States...

Oh Dang Tink, don't even get me started on that long black coat- it makes me all weak in the knees. Add a cowboy hat and faded blue jeans and I'd about be incapacitated!

Did you guys check out the Lotto show on the ROL site, he was wearing that long coat there, and I absolutly love it.....

It's great that there are new singles coming out, but they do need videos if they are gonna be played on the tv stations....counts for Holland and Germany as well as UK
Just radio time is not enough, especially if you want to target the younger generation as well

As others have said .. nice to put a show on that's in the Siuth West for a change .. and of course it sold out really fast .. suggesting there was certainly demand for a show there .. markey demand :)

2 more singles, hopefully with some unreleased stuff, so who am I to complain? It is just a bit frustrating that us Germans get the only weak track of the album, "Because Of You", while the UK gets glorious "Testify"?
Probably only fair as we have been very priveliged recently.
But why nou using some positive cross-influence when the same single is released everywhere?
Anyhow, that way it is up to you in the UK again!
Go, Testify, go!

Conclusion: This most likely means Testify :) and Because Of You will be in the setlist of the upcoming shows

That would suit me wonderfully as I adore both tracks ) I can see that Testify might be a shade stronger as a single, but I think Because of You is a beautful song, and could well surprise all the doubting Thomases

I think so too, Michael.
I live in Holland, love BOY, but not as much as Testify.
In my opinion that song is SO special.

So I too say, Go Testify Go!!!

Great day to you,

Mariella

Sorry Michael, I just can't seem to quote right. Will keep trying.

Well, IMO
2 good choices. Testfy should be a hit, BWTFDIK, people buy so much c.r.a.p today. The song is a great departure from Meat's usual style and he pulls it off magnificently. For those who might be interested, the old-time bit playing at the the beginning is O.J. Jones, according to Kasim.

As for BOY, as Jules said it really grabbed me at first. Guess that's why I use part as my sig, the lyrics are really catchy to me. Now, besides Tesify, my current favorite is LYOL, but I always like the more rocking songs.

Hope that the BOY single grabs the public like it hit me.

Hi T.!

I am 'learning' just how to quote here, so please forgive me I have done it wrong again.

Thank you for the info on Testify.
Could you please tell me what BWTFDIK means? Or am I being really stupid here, doesn't matter, happens to me all the time!

As you know, I 'am going' for Testify. Had that from the very first time I heard the song.
But I also know a lot of people had the same about BOY!
IMO that may be one of the reasons for these releases. Hope both songs do really well. Very exciting times!

I will send you the Dutch release of BOY, will you send me the US release of Testify, please?

No serious, this is not a competition, we will see which song 'grabs' the general public, as long as they 'are grabbed', it's fine by me.

Great day to you,

Mariella

I don't understand why different tracks are being chosen for the singles in different countries. Would it not be better to release the same single worldwide?

Do the record companies think that different types of songs are going to appeal to the record buying public in different places, eg. in Germany people prefer slower songs like DIST and Because of You and in the UK we prefer more upbeat tracks like CHSIB and Testify?

Cause it's business!
Every singer and band know they don't fight against the downloading programs. KaZaA won the suit against Sony. They know only the fans will buy the albums! And the fan will buy all CD. You will order the new single from Germany, GBr., USA, etc. Any you will pay more and more and more...

Hi, Sapphire Lady and White of High!

I remember hearing Meat talking about BOY in one of his recent interviews--how it was a middle-of-the-road, easy listening kind of song--something he's never really done before.

So, it might be that he, and/or the Record Company, are testing to see how this song will do in the German and Dutch markets. Both DIST and CHSIB probably, in the end, did not fair as well as they might have liked.

It also might be a test for Meat to see how both these particular songs do in their respective markets, in order to know which one to release in some of the other countries to come--including the States.

That's just a thought which occurred to me.

Interesting point, White, about selling more singles to fans this way. And it's true, of course. Fans these days will go anywhere to get different versions or different releases of the songs!! Hadn't really thought of it in that way before.

I was wondering and I'm sure that someone here will know the answer to this question: Which of Meat's albums had the most single releases from it? Was it Bat? Just curious. Perhaps, it's already been discussed before...

Thanks!

Love to all,
MB

I think BOY is al very good choise! It's a song that you already like, when you hear it the first time and that kind of songs Meat needs to get a big Hit. Nowadays DJ's often only give attention to songs they like the first time they here it, certainly when it is from an artist who hasn't score big hits in the last few years. But Meat will strike back with this fantastic song!!
