Had no idea you were already 'taking care' of this.

Thank you for spending your time, helping these people out!

Love,

Thanks, Caryl, for that reassurance, but i'd have to argue that there has been a lot of others who also worked thier butts off to promote Meat over here - you included

I don't want this turning into a 'who did what' kinda thread, so can we leave it at theat please :) ?

Folks, this is all speculation so far and all I can recommend is that you wait for some statement from Anne and/or Diane.
Meet & Greets have been arranged by the mlukfc in the past and I'm sure it will be the same this time.

However, imho it's too early to talk about this now. What I can tell you is this.

R. I'm not quite sure what you mean by speculation.

Initially I responded to this thread with dissappointment in what I have discovered this week with my membership of OIFC and M&G's.

The thread seems to have continued with reference to FireBalls plea and promise made in these public forums. This instigated a lot of response and activity from many people, who granted would have done the same if he had just asked for help with no proviso. However a promise was made by him and i would think that far from being speculation it would be an expection in relation to that particular topic.

Nor me Heat. I was just responding to Mariella who asked about people in the US, plus saying that Meat's offer did not mention membership of any club.

We in the UK can afford to sit and wait because the tour doesn't arrive here until November. Those in the US start in 10 days! If it's all in hand it doesn't matter, but my approach will do no harm. But I just had a feeling that they might fall through the cracks, because there's no vidence yet of there being any general M&Gs in the US, and I know there were some people who did answer the call from across the pond :)

R. is right. It is too early for us to have any news yet on Meet and Greets for the European leg of the tour. So far we have no information on whether there will be a Meet & Greet at the Plymouth Pavilions concert on the 5th July. I can assure you approaches have been made and it will be posted here just as soon as we hear anything.

In the meantime I'm afraid everyone is going to have to be patient a little while longer!

No announcements have been made re M&Gs in general in the US, and no-one has got back to me in response to my query to the OIFC a few days ago apart from a holding reply. The numbers of US fans who responded to the call is relatively small and scattered around several different locations, but I have suggested what I believe is a workable solution :)

If I get any news I will of course let those concerned know and post the info.
Thank you Caryl !!

Don't hold your breath on that that one! I have only recently found out that the OIFC M&G's do not apply for UK Members. Silly me thought the "I" stood for international. On joining I could find nothing that excluded UK fans.
Since posting this I have been emailing OIFC, regarding the statements that had been made to me and have just received confirmation that I can "share" the following reply:-

"That statement is totally incorrect. Over the decade that I have
been Meat's OIFC manager we have arranged many meet and greets for
our members that live in the UK for Meat's UK tours. Whoever is spreading that rumor is not a kind person. We have always tried our best to service our UK fans......a full 25% of our fans are from the UK. In the past, management has been great about allowing m&g's whenever possible. I know that they're trying their hardest for us this time around also, but Meat's performance schedule is an arduous one for this tour and he may not be able to do them.
Best wishes,
Gerri"

It would be a dream come true for myself to meet the great man himself when he plays the MEN arena on the 13th Nov. Plenty of time between now and then to dream

I did the buying loads of singles things, I bought 25 from Reedes in Blackburn and they looked at me really funny. I never actually believed that I would or will get anything for doing it, was happy just to help out.

So I decided to give friends the extra singles I had and when they listened, they went out an bought the album. So I'm quite proud of myself for that.

Saying that though, if the UK fan club should be sorting back stage passes or Meat and Greets then I'd hope I would be in with a shout of 1 or 2

I think when Meat asked in w/c 14 April for those of us who could find copies of the single to go out and buy 5 that week to help overcome the problems of distribution, and promised back stage passes it was a promise from an honourable man, but wasn't offered on a pro rata basis :)

And not sure what you mean by "and keep whatever they get for themselves..."

It was supposed to be funny, no offence was intended.

And I do remember reading the above, thats why I thought I would buy lots from the shop and give them to people so they would go and buy the album. It worked :)

That's OK, none taken. I was just puzzled :)

I did much the same with ones I bought (plus a few to radio stations). Most I gave to people who wouldn't normally buy a Meat CD .. and they've gone out and bought the album as a result :) I even "tipped" the gardener and the guys who installed my washing machine with a single each The installation chaps were like many people I meet who aren't the kind of fans who know when an album is coming out, or that a tour is coming up, but who always say when I mention Meat's name that they have his albums and think he's great. They left saying they'd get tickets for Sheffield arena.

I've also bought quite a few front row tickets on eBay recently. Two lots were in the side blocks, and I then managed to get centre block for the same shows, so put the others back on eBay to get my money back. Each of the winners when asked said they hadn't got the album yet .. so I tucked in copies of the single as a taster, and I hope an incentive :)

Still have a pile of them, but it's fun identifying people I think can be persuaded to buy the album if they just get a taste of it from the single :)

I so enjoyed my self during this time hunting the shops for available singles, phoning the radio stations asking for it to be in playlists, HMV and Woolies head offices must have been fed up with me but there were helpful.

I was really hoping to help in the US, even organised an international phone card but we seem to have lost the link for a while

I couldnt buy that many singles but I still helped getting them around a bit and getting a few others to buy it.

I have only one question, how exactly will it be organised and how will we know when you check for this sort of thing?
