Hi, Greavzyboy and JM!! Welcome! Nice to hear from you again!!

This is the first I've heard of the difference. I only know about the album, itself. It was released in Germany with the red cover. But for the UK, they wanted the background to be different and so the blue color was chosen.

I just checked the first single released in Germany for DIST and it had just the legs and a Red cover. Maybe the websites are using a older photo based on that basic look, thinking that the UK single release would be similar. Or maybe this is a photo from the German release. And the UK record company, once again, wanting the UK single to look different, went back to the original album design. Maybe someone who has the German release will stop by and describe it for us.

This is the only thing I can think of at the moment as to why the cover is different from what's being shown.

I don't know. Interesting...

How's Meat doing on The Box this morning?? Have you had the chance to check it out yet?

Are you both getting excited about the Chart release later this morning??

Hi, Cloggy! Welcome!

You know the expression about 'great minds spitting in the same river'??? (Is that just an American saying??)

We had the same thoughts, exactly!

Nice to have you here with us!!

Hi, JM! Well, you can tell where I've spent all MY life, can't you?!!

Dead giveaway, if you ask me!

I've gone the BBC radio 1 website. They're still listing last week's show.

I was a little upset because their "Playlist," the list they use to determine what is played on Radio 1 the following week, does NOT contain CHSIB in either their A, B or C listings. I don't know if they change that weekly, or daily--no schedule is given. Probably once a week. But it scared me to see that....

They have a message board there. You have to sign up for it, but you can post a topic or add to a topic. I started one on why CHSIB wasn't on the playlist. Don't know if anyone will respond to it. Everyone reading this could go there, when they have the chance, to keep talking about it--not necesarily on my post but on one of their own, if they wanted. The more we talk about the single/album, the more the radio stations will realize there are people out here who want to hear this song!!!!

That's all the news I have so far. I've just been sitting here and emailing away, as I can. Probably won't get much of a response today, though, because of the holiday.

Hope you're having a good one there, JM! Thanks for continuing to come by here when you can. Always good to hear from you!

Talk to you later.

From the Radio 1 website:

Singles Out Monday 14th April:
Blur - 'Out Of Time'
Goldfrapp - 'Train'
Lisa Maffia - 'All Over'
Madonna - 'American Life'
Plummet - 'Damaged'
Robbie Williams - 'Come Undone'
The Kills - 'Fried My Little Brains'
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 'Date With The Night'

With singles by Blur, Madonna and Robbie Williams all being released on the day that CHSIB was released, it's going to be a tough chart this week IMO.

CHSIB is on the Radio 2 playlist in List C. The definition is:
"The playlist contains about 30 tracks which are divided into three levels: A list, which receive the most plays, about 20 each week; B list 10 plays and the C list around 5 plays."

Hi, Sue! Thanks for coming by this Easter morning! It's good to see you!

Thanks for clearing up the Playlist issue. I was looking at Radio 1 at the time and it wasn't there. I'll have to go to Radio 2 and see it. Thanks. I feel better now! :)

You know, I was just at Radio 1, myself, and when I saw "Madonna," my heart ached for Meat! I hadn't seen the rest of the list, though! It didn't get any better, did it?

What luck--or lack of it! Added, of course, to the other distribution problems earlier in the week...He's got a rough road ahead!!

What am I saying?? We ALL have a rough road ahead!!

But the album is SO great!! If sales of the album are good, and people find out that the single contains even more material, then, maybe it'll help the single's sale along...

What do you think??

The thing is they don't relise how good CHSIB actually is. They are only sticking to crappy repeatative pop music now because it sells. its aimed at the school kid market (But i've always been into Meat Loaf) but if they knew how good it is then it would be on more.

One more question, Sue, since you've had a lot more experience with all this than I have with Kasim.

Do you know what it takes to make it onto the Top of the Pops? What position do you have to be to qualify for it?

I asked that a day or so ago, but no one seemed to know.

I know we're going to get tired of this line after a while, but....

I couldn't have said it better myself, JM!!!

If there isn't a particular place in the charts to get onto TOTP, then why was Meat talking about moving the single up this week, so that they COULD get on it, I wonder???

Yeah, just a few more hours to go...and we'll see about the chart position. Next week, we'll see what we all can do to help it along. Right??!!! :P

Have you been listening to your radio at all today, JM? If so, have you heard CHSIB played yet?? Just curious...

I stopped watching TOTP every week years ago (April 1999 I think when Kasim was last on it!) but the number one is always played. Other than that it is the new entries and songs that are moving up the charts. It didn't used to be new releases that aren't yet in the charts but that may have changed.

It must be a good sign that Meat Loaf has already [been allowed to] record TOTP. I think they are more likely to air a "live" performance rather than a video if they have a choice..... let's hope that Madonna and Robbie Williams only have videos to offer.

I'm sure we'll have more idea after the charts are announced this afternoon. You can hear it online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/ from 4.00pm to 7.00pm in London, 11.00am to 2.00pm in NYC and 8.00am to 11.00am in LA.

Hi! Back from breakfast for my folks.

Thanks, Sue, for the information. You're right that it sounds promising to have already taped the song for TOTP. Why would they waste the tape if they weren't somewhat sure it would be used??!!

And who wouldn't want to watch a live performance--the videos you can go to The Box, or whatever, request it and watch it any time. Is the show mostly videos or mostly live--or a pretty even mix? Just curious since I've never had the chance to see it. Do the people on there get interviewed or just perform?

I KNOW you'll be watching this time ---Kasim just looks and sounds better every time I see him!!! So glad he's still with Meat and will be on the upcoming tour. Can't wait!

Thanks a lot, Sue!! Awfully glad you're here!

Mariella! HI!!! I'm SO happy to see you. You know, I miss you when you leave us for the day!! :) How are you? What have you been up to?

Do they have music charts in your country? And if so, do you know how CHSIB is doing there? I haven't heard anyone talking about that. Just wondering.

Another half an hour to go...glad to have good people to wait it out with!!!

Just a passing thought. My kids get text alerts from music sites etc that they have signed up to. Anyone know if CHSIB is linked to any of these?
If not how can it be done? Its a way of targeting large numbers. I'm sick and tired of all this rubbbish about charts aiming for the 12yr old/teen market, and not including Meat Loaf in their likes. My kids are 12 & 17 both loving the music (no pressure on them at all ) I know their friends like the music and know the lyrics to quite a few, whenever I'm waiting in the school car park kids recognise its Meat Loaf playing out .
Caryl - the animations where brilliant! thank you. I'm still working on linking them up to emails thou' i'll get there
Plan of action this week airplay?

Hi MB, I 'took the day of'. Didn't really know what else I could do.
Been cleaning the house
So I am just waiting for the charts-show now.

The album is at no. 66 in the Dutch top 100, I believe, which is not bad at all, I think. Should climb much much higher, believe it will, after next weeks show!!! YES, YES, YES!

The single will be released next tuesday (it says the 21th but I don't think all shops are open then). Already called Polydor in Holland to ask them if they thought there will be problems with the distibution, here in Holland.
because next tuesday I DO have to work...and wednesday I DO have a show to go to!!

Great day to you,

Mariella

And Sin! Thanks for being here, girl! Always a pleasure.

Here we have text messages via cellphone. Is this what you're talking about? Or is it some kind of email alert?

Sounds good, if there's a way to get the single associated with it. Find out more about it, if you can. And bring some of the websites' addresses where your kids get their alerts from. Maybe we can all figure out a way to do this thing!!

No specific plan right now, Sin, aside from what we've already been doing. I think we're all just in limbo until the charts are reported. Then, we'll have to all sit down and figure out the best plan of attack. For certain, it's gotta be airplay. People HAVE to hear the song to want to go and buy it.

I wonder if any more pubicity is being planned for the week. Let's see. Meat's in Amsterdam on the 23rd. The book signing on the 25th. Let's hope he can squeeze some more things in.

Sue, wasn't there a report that VH1 was going to spend an evening with him toward the end of the month, or something like that?? Have you heard about it?

Hey, Sin, that was nice to have your son send a message here yesterday!! Tell him hi from all of us! It's great that your kids are interested in what's going on with Meat!

Well, I'm going to get BBC1 on--it's early, but I guess I'm nervous. I'll still be around here, too, though, if you want to talk.

Hey, Mariella. Yes, you've been very bad about work lately but that's been good for US!!!

66 out of 100--first week on. Not bad.

Meat was really smart to set up this concert in Amsterdam on the 23rd. It's certainly going to sell more albums, plus the single. I know people are coming from all over Europe to see him. So, it should be good for sales everywhere I would hope.

Then, after he finishes in the UK, he told me at the live chat that he'll be going to Switzerland and Norway and eventually, even Australia--and he said all of those before he mentioned the US. So I don't know if he's planning to do all that promotion BEFORE the world tour starts in June. Sounds like an incredible schedule, doesn't it?

You've gotta be SO excited, you lucky girl!! Not only the concert, but the Meet and Greet afterwards...do you live close to where the concert is taking place?

they register for mobile phone text alerts through things like smash hits and totp magazines. what i don't know is how an artist gets their single or album promoted through this service. I was hoping someone alse might know that, or better still if any one is keeping tabs on all this for Meat maybe then can follow it up!

Hi Sin,

Can't help you with that, just learning here myself.
But it's been good being here, these last few days.

Hi MB,

Live about 2,5 hours from Amsterdam.
VERY excited!! Yes!
But I have had a feeling this was going to be a great year al along!
Are you listening to the BBC media player? Some tough compition!
I have never been very patient.

Great day to you,

Mariella

It's time for no. 1 - this was just the first step towards that!

Yeah, I'm listening, but you're right, Mariella, it's hard to sit here and hear all these other songs. I feel like biting my nails or something :P hard to type that way, though.

2.5 hours away--that's not too bad. I'm considering one concert this summer which is about 10 hours away and I'm not good at traveling, but I want to see him as many times as I can manage....

Sin, I'm going to be thinking about this. Maybe someone will come along who knows more about this. Either that, or we'll find a way to get the idea to Meat or his people. It's a good one!!

All this music is NOT my kind. I'm feeling old, guys...oh, where did the years go...?
