Default Meat in Classic Rock: Retirement after Bat III?

The August 2005 issue of Classic Rock contains an interview with Meat (page 126) in which the following questions were posed:

Q. Do you still think your career end is in sight?

A. Oh yeah. I got news for ya. After Bat III things will be wrapped up. We might do some shows, then again we might not. We might do a run in Vegas, but Meat Loaf will be history. If we ever do another run of 40 shows I'd be surprised.

Q. When can we expect to hear Bat Out of Hell III?

A. I have no idea. The label want me to deliver it next March, but we've not started recording yet. Once the songs are in place - and we're working on them now - it'll be done pretty fast.

So there you have it! Not many more opportunities to see Meat in concert.

Mike

Not at all....I am definitely going to buy for a meet and greet if the tour for Bat III comes, whatever the price!!!

I cant believe he said "Meat Loaf will be history" Surely that cant be right, Meat Loaf is Meat Loaf, surely nothing can ever change that, it has been the biggest part of his life hasnt it, I know he says he is an actor and that can really been seen when he is performing Paradise and his ther songs on stage in concert......but my god.....he is one hell of a f****n singer!!!

I hope he does do a run of Vegas, that would be great, I would fly out there for that, most definitely!

I wonder if this is a recent interview?

during CHSIB tour meat did an interview with Classic rock - they said it would be published "at a later date." They only did a brief write up saying how Meat tells them in the interview he'd retire after Bat 3.

I think this is a 2year old interview only printed now.

No, afraid this is recent Chris. Meat talks about the upcoming stately homes and castles leg of the tour. Classic Rock also make a reference to Meat's previous interview with them when he announced he was retiring after the CHSIB tour.

As far as i can remember this, ML is saying this. As hard as it will be, think it is the truth. If not, that is great.

But... as we talk in the future, no one ever knows what will happen. Maybe in 2006 they earth will be destroyed... or you get killed... you see... you never know. Think we must enjoy the shows that he now is doing and life day by day. Eventually we will see. And after all... he is also getting older

Well, if it's the 19th of March release of Bat III or tour, I know what I'll want for my birthday! Just kidding! Hang on, is it just me, or was CHSIB initially due for release in March 2003?!

That's sorta depressing. I know that it has to come to an end at some time. I was just hoping that it would go alot longer than that.

I figure it's best to go out at the top than go on and on and be a shadow of the star you were.

Meat knows what he's doing...he'll do it right...go at the top and leave 'em wanting more.

That way we'll all say...now he WAS good...and we'll be right. Better to have those great memories of him.

Any Bat record would be difficult to follow don't you think?.

I actually thought Meat Loaf would retire after his 1999 greatest hits tour. I remember reading a newspaper article mentioning he was more interested in doing movies and continue with that. In the early 2000s I saw he was doing quite a few tours without a specific album (the summer fun and proms tours etc) and I wasn't really sure what would be next.
I was so happy to read he was doing CHSIB in 2002 and loved the shows last year and the Melbourne cd and DVD. For me everything he has been doing over the last few years and this year is a bonus really. To have a complete Bat out of Hell trilogy well is pretty damn cool I'd say. I'm certainly looking forward to it. First I have two shows to go to!

I really hope Meat plays in Scotland even just once when Bat III is released.
It will be a shame if he really does retire, although all good things have to come to an end I guess.
Whatever happens, I'm determined that I'll find some way of helping my Mum to meet the man himself at some point, even if I have to fly her to the opposite end of the country to do so

I couldn't have said it better. You're right. Its a bonus. Everything is a bonus. and Bat 3 is a hell of a bonus too. Honestly, when I saw him in 1994 in concert I already expect that he would retire after it. Everything after 1994 is a bonus too me.

Considering Meat hasn't played in France since 1926 I doubt that Paris will be the only 3 dates for a BAT 3 show
