I am wondering if anyone could help me out on which are the greatest movies to own that Meat starred in?
I have Roadie,Blacktop and Pelts but am wondering about other movies? Does he just have bit parts in these other movies or appear in them quite a bit? I found Rustin and Black Dog online along with others that star William H. Macy,Lacey Chabert and others and am curious as to his role in these movies as no real plot was offered in the advertisement. Any descriptions and recommendations would be appreciated because I have to get my Christmas and birthday list together and I would like to know which ones are a must see, etc. Thanks! ![]() |

I think you should take the skimpy list, as alot of movies Meat has been in are poor productions, regardless if Meat was in the film or not. It's a shame he is not in more big budget movies like Fight Club, but maybe with touring he just does not have the time, which surprises me, as he regards himself as an actor first over music performer. Actually, with his health not being the best over the last few years, maybe he should really concentrate more on movies, now than live shows, at least we will get to see him on the big screen.

In what sense, about performing live, or what movies he appears in. If you meant the first part, I don't know, Meat comes across to me as a person, who will not be told what to do, if he wants to quit touring he will, maybe it's the feeling he gets when on stage what draws him back to performing live. Obviously, if you meant the second, unless a director or producer wants him in their paticular movie, then he has no choice unless they ask, but I gotta say, he has been in some real turkeys, and Meat himself is not a bad actor by any means. To me, he is one of them who can play a villain really well, and would love to see him do more of these roles, but better movies instead of those really bad cheesy B movies.
Just to add, i don't think all his movies are bad, but there are some awful ones. ![]() |

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and info!
I have gone with Rustin and Black Dog so far and will look around for other ones.I have been looking on eBay for them because sometimes you can get a better deal with powersellers. I also just wanted to apologise for posting my question in the wrong forum. I am new here so I am learning now where each question or topic goes in which forum. Thanks!! ![]() |

That is most probably the situation. Think Meat Loaf, think more Rock Music than acting, that's what it is most probably, and it's a shame, because he is alot better actor than alot of others I see in bigger budget movies. ![]() |

Albeit I am pretty sure it is complete...
America is INFESTED with movie actors wannabes...it is actually a compliment to Meat that he was in as many movies as he was...PLUS...somehow we don't have older people...actors here change with a speed where you don't even get to know them...and young replace old before you get to know any of them...and only until recently people in show business in their late thirties were considered OLD...now...it's changing a bit now...but afraid it is just too late for people like Meat...if you haven't made yourself a big name in your young years...slim to none chances you will make it in more advanced age... |

![]() Meat IS recognised first and formost as a singer. It's like Randy Travis, he's been in approx 30 films, but when you hear his name you think "singer" and I imagine that's not an easy thing for someone to get over who is looking for more movie roles. When a director is thinking who he can cast for a film, the last thing he's going to think is "I wonder if Steve Tyler facies doing some acting?" Meat has said though that he will turn down a part if the character doesn't challenge him in some way, and that he's had a lot of offers he never took, so you never know what he had the option to play ![]() |

Plenty of singers who are also in the movies...Elvis, David Bowie, Roger Daltrey, Frank Sinatra...so the argument is pretty invalid...
I wonder what was the challenge playing a bus driver in Spice something movie...hmm... |

I am pretty sure that some of the movies he has made he actually came first to mind of the casting director...he is a character actor...not precisely mainstream...
But I do have to agree with your statement...until recently I completely forgot that he was in Wayne's World...so...the last time it was on TV, I got myself a large popcorn and settled on the couch...ummm...missed first few minutes though...LOL... |

i agree, but that's certainly not the case with all of his movies.
There are quotes of several directors (including David Fincer and the guy who made Extreme Dating) who actually say that they definitely wanted Meat in their movie. |

Exactly my point...he must have been the first choice in most of the movies he has made...but you do need a particular part to get him into the movie in the first place...he always had this particular look to him...

my simple guess would be that the bigger his part, the more they wanted him in particular to play the role.

I would probably disagree...For example, I think people at Wayne's World definitely wanted to get him in even for a few minutes or so...

really? now I would have thought the exact opposite. His whole airtime is probably less than 30 seconds, it doesnt really matter who you get to play that role...
