I was wondering how we would start a petition or whom to contact to request for all of Meat's music videos to be released on DVD?
I was hoping he would have done it as a bonus feature with 3 Bats Live or In Search Of Paradise but he just keeps us waiting.... It would be a bestseller that is for sure and I am sure he and his people knows that so I wonder how we can suggest it to him or his management/record company? That would be a real treat to finally have them all on DVD! ![]() |

It would be great, but probably unlikely, Meat has been involved with so many record companies that to produce a single DVD of all of Meat's videos would cause huge licensing issues (and the inherent costs) for whoever was to produce it. Really can't see this happening sadly.

![]() ![]() If memory serves correct, there was supposed to be a Bat Trilogy box set in the works, but that was abandoned because the three record companies couldn't get together on it. |

Virgin have a master for a DVD release but it was dropped because the various companies holding the rights to the songs could not come to an agreement, this was 1997 0r 98 if memory serves me right.

Well, maybe there's something to propose to the labels in addition to that "Best of Meat and Jim" thing. Take "Hits Out of Hell," add any of the other "Bad Attitude" videos like "Nowhere Fast" or "Surf's Up," any BBIS videos, the stuff for Bat II from "Picture Show" (including the live performance of any Bat II songs not covered on video), any WTTN, CHSIB, what little was done for III, etc.
Show them that it has an audience by having many people write them and then wait for some sort of deal to surface. |

Something similar was tried to get Bad Attitude Live reissued and that didn't work.

![]() ![]() Bat Out Of Hell is one of the biggest albums ever, so Sony will no doubt value that particular product quite highly. Bat II has also had a very successful history, so no doubt Virgin would protect their investment. Bat III, not great, but it's early days. So how do you split royalties between the three companies? Sony would believe that the main album is the first Bat Out Of Hell, so would naturally want more royalties than Virgin or Mercury. Virgin would probably object to being put in second place to Sony, but would no doubt believe they should get more royalties than Mercury. Mercury, I dare say, will want an equal third of the royalties as they are supplying a third of the content (and bear in mind, their content is the latest release which they will feel is the catalyst for the whole thing). Not only that, but as the latest Bat, therefore the one that hasn't sold 20 million copies, it's the one that people still haven't got and still might buy. It's not a problem that can be solved easily as long as the companies are holding something they think they can make money off. |

Yeah, that's some very good points, then there's the record companies for CHSIB, WTTN, Dead Ringer and others trying to agree on what they'd get as well. It's a shame as it would be massive if it could be done.

This aint right. i Say meat and Jim alone should have the rights to whatever song he/they record. It Ain't CIR's, it ain't Virgin's, it ain't MCA's, it Ain't Universal's.
It should be Meat's. Meat should be able to decide what gets released with his name on it. |

There's alot that isn't right in this world ... and much of the music business falls into that category. The record company own the studio recordings and promo videos, end of story, so any complete anthology is at their mercy.

Actually, in the end, Sony owns most of the labels that Meat has associated with. Epic is a part of CBS, which is a part of the Sony family (BAT, DR, MATLAF); the RCA Music Group (RCA/Arista) was part of BMG, also swallowed by Sony (BA, and [in the UK] BBIS). That covers the first five albums. In addition, Sony also owns Mercury and the associated labels (which in the UK covers BAT III, and oddly enough Jim's label Ravenous).
So it's mainly a deal (at least where the U.S. is concerned) between Sony, Atlantic (which owns BBIS in the U.S.), and EMI (who owns Virgin). (In the UK, Atlantic, so far as I know, doesn't enter the picture because Arista owns BBIS there.) All three are big corporations, and therefore it's not easy to play office politics with these groups. |

Let's be honest. It's just between Sony and EMI. Nobody really gives a fig about BBIS.

And perverts replace them with two Os and a B and tack on an E and an S at the end.
Any which way, BBIS deserves to be cared about. I mean really, Meat performed Masculine for almost 10 years straight, SOMEBODY must've cared about the album. |

And the album in itself (yeah, go ahead, shoot me) is not a bad album at all. Some songs could benefit from better production, but many of them don't even sound that dated compared to most Eighties product. In fact, the same could be said of much of MATLAF, which could easily sell as a country rock album today.
