Default Best Stand in the Storm: Patti Russo, Trace Adkins, or John Rich?

I love Trace's version. Meat sounds genuine, the mix is awesome, and that version seems like it was the most fun to record. LOVEE Trace's "Storm's coming" at the end. The john Rich version is good though, i prefer some of meats parts in that more, but overall I listen and enjoy the trace version more.

The GP DVD version sounds artificial to me, though the intro is amazing and Patti kicks it up an extra notch. Love how meat sings "Show you what a backbone's for" towards the end in an escalating key.

Of the two recorded versions I would choose the Australian version (which I think is John Rich).

Patti doing it live was a great choice and I really love the verse that she does, but it sounds to me like there's a horrid "electric" effect on her vocal on the chorus which really doesn't work for me.

I like the drum more in the US version. Deeper sounding to me. As one who has a moderate hearin loss, I appreciate the deeper tones that I can hear/feel!

In order of favourites-

Patti Russo: Love love love it! Sounds so deep but agree with Lucy on the Electric sound on the DVD but she sounded amazing at the Romney Rally
Australian: Really love the country twang
UK/US Version; Really not a fan of this one not sure why

The UK version, to me, just sounds over-done. I'm all for "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and I feel a bit like the Australian version was treated almost as a demo version, and then it was played with to within an inch of it's like for the UK release, when actually the original was great!

Trace Adkin's version for me, not a John Rich fan at all.

Very close second to Patti's version

I've gone with the live version, the JR version second as I like that arrangement and Trace last.

This is the trace version, but with Patti singing

Patti version- she kicks like a shotgun. On the Mad, Mad World tour, they added some extras that really kick the song up a notch.

If you exclude the second verse, I prefer the UK version but I wasn't really a fan of Trace Adkins' vocals so that let it down for me.

With the addition of Patti, for me the song becomes perfect.

I prefer the Aussie John Rich version and the live one. But maybe because it's the one I'm used to. Only just got the Trace Adkins version so haven't heard it too many times. But definitely love the live version on the DVD.

I didn't really like the song until I heard the live version with Meat and Patti. The MMW version is the best ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JFy2UUU2UI

I really dislike SITS - not just for the rap - although this hardly helps ! I like Meat singing rock and roll, not some rock / country / rap medley. But only my opinion ...

I really like SITS, but I understand how you feel, Paul. My girlfriend fell in love with Meat's music because of songs like ILFY and CHSIB and she really misses that type of song in the setlist.

I very like Trace Adkins version, but ... Yesterday I saw Guilty Pleasure DVD (finally it arrived to me) and ... my, oh my ... Now I think Patti Russo did amazing job (Meat of course too) - this version blowing me immediately with it's fantastic sound and fantastic interaction between Patti and Meat.

In other words - I voted (in the pool) for Patti's version. I love it!

If I had to choose between them, I'd say the Australian release. I'm not a big fan of Trace Adkin's performance on the US version...although there's a storm coming is pretty damn cool.

I'd say Patti wins hand down if it wasn't for the AutoTune, but I can't get past that
