Default What's everyone's job/career/employment etc?

I'm just wondering what everyone does for a living. What do you do? What are you qualified for or experienced in?

I work part time at a university library (10 hours a week), shelving books. I also get part of an unemployment benefit and am looking for more work.

I was working towards my undergraduate degree in psychology but have taken a break (at least a year, probably more).

I am a dirty scummy student

Seriously, I am studying a BSc in Multimedia Technology and Design and currently have no job. I will be working in Sainsburys over summer, and then possibly for term time too. Woohoo!

I am a school librarian, currently working in a middle school (11 to 13 year old students) but I've also worked several years previously at a high school. I have two days of work left, then all summer off! I also have degrees in learning disabilities education and 8 years experience as a social work caseworker for female AIDS patients. I love being a school librarian!

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics and a Master's Degree in Economics. But after working at a bank in both the Investment Department and Residential Mortgage (13 years all together), and a University in the General Accounting Department (3 years), I now work with my father in our Flag store :)

Business is booming and my parents can't run the store by themselves. And I enjoy dealing with the customers, so working retail is a nice change of scenery for me. I also plan on designing a new website for them .. if I can stop working on the ROL so much

Well, at the moment i'm a full time mum and housewife to my hubbs and twin boys, 7 months.
I'm also doing some voluntary work for Child Line - i work on the phones answering calls from children in danger or trouble.
Previous to all this i've been working as a counsellor with children who have been born with ambiguos genetailia - i was at uni for 3 years doing a certificate in counselling, then a diploma in it. Ive taken some time off from work to look after the kids, but i spose i will hafta go back at some point, perhaps when they start at playgroup. I'm also on call, so if they get a case they can't handle, they will call me in, doesnt happen often so it's not too bad.
Before this i worked with adults and children that have HIV/AIDS. I did that for about three years - loved it.
I've also been a nanny living in germany for 6 months, and before that i worked for Chipperfields circus - i travelled round with them for a while, working in the box office and looking after the animals.

Apart from that, my life is quite dull

i am an artist.I originally trained to teach but decided it was not for me.Ihave a degree in art and English Literature. I specialised in Graphic Design and textiles.Ihave done various jobs from time to time ..mainly working in schools and playgroups Ispent the school holidays ,last summer doing a Summer School at a local High School, painting very large murals with the students to brighten the school.Idon't have a job as such in the normal sense,i wander around the countryside, painting whatever i am inspired to paint, when i have enough i exhibit them.I do watercolours, landscapes ,seascapes, buildings ,flowers most anything except portaits......sadly i do not have the skill to do them. When painting for myself ,i paint from the imagination, often these are inspired by music,or particular song lyrics...these i don't exhibit, perhaps because i put a lot of myself into these.
Apart from that ,house work, housework and more housework!!!

HI

It a nice to see what other Meat fans do for a living.

I'm a purchaser in a company that sells computer supplies to other firms.
I've enjoyed this job for 5 years now, so I guess it's ok.

I'm educated at the "Norwegian School of Trade and Retail Management"
Else I've worked in different retail stores.

Last summer i completed a Bachelors degree in "Computers, Networking and Communications Technology with integrated Circuits Systems Design", along with various computer diplomas such as Microsoft Certification.

I didn't go into the industry and am the store manager for a newsagents. i also do some freelance programming work for local societies like the Family History Society to help them catalogue and preserve grave inscriptions and the like.

Thats about it really.

I'm a Banker! I'm the bloke who opens accounts and hands out loans and things. I like the customer service of it all but I don't plan to do this for the rest of my life.

I would give my right nut to be a roadie on Meats next tour though! Hey Fireball, I wouldn't even ask for a wage!

3 jobs really:-

1) Security at local school year 7 to lower/upper sixth, checking i.d. of persons on site, evicting where necessary, generally observing all comings and goings during the school day.

2) Secretarial work for Roy who runs his own business

3) Invigilating for exams, GCSE, Sats, Languages etc.,

I'm pretty busy most of the time.

p.s. off during school holidays which is brilliant, but tons of invigilating next week.ppff

Asha - A diablo is a thing kinda shaped like an egg timer, and it comes with two sticks which have a piece of string between them, and you put the diablo on the string and move the sticks up and down, kinda like banging a drum, and it makes the diablo spin really fast, and you can do tricks and things with it.

Hope that helps...
