I like the slow burn into the song.
This song seems to be dedicated to almost every contestant of the X Factor and Pop Idol
Celebrity these days is very fleeting, there's always someone ready to take your place so careers tend to be a lot shorter than they used to be with a lot of contempory artist on the scrap heap before they have a chance to do much work (i'm debating wether that's a bad thing
).
This song sums it all up pretty well IMHO.
Blinded by the dollar, paper deals, it's all about getting the contract and the money, no matter how soon it's all over.
The one word out of place IMO, is "trading, one pound of gold, for
now ten pounds of flesh".
It just doesn't seem to sit that well in my ear.
But that's just nitpicking, because it's a really good chorus.
Interesting that the giving tree, from my understanding, is the record company building.
