It all comes down to sales in the end.
You'd have thought a theater guy with a panache for repeatedly writing smash hits panning different eras and genres combined, would be able to sell a Broadway show on talent and reputation alone. To the person who cited 'David' as an excellent businessman, well the potential of the art has not to date been realised, and the recognition deserved by both the writer and performer this forum is most enbebted to is diminished as a result.
.... And that's a statement that goes well beyond the musical alone.
