I don't know why they can't just post a simple list. I'm not going to spend 20 minutes going through another one of these- I went through a different RS list just a little while ago.

These things are always subjective (and the one you're referencing appears to be one person's opinion), though I can't quibble with most of the top ten (on the other list- http://www.rollingstone.com/music/li...ndrix-19691231), I can't understand certain other choices.

Most of these I'd more or less agree with:

1) Jimi Hendrix (naturally)
2) Eric Clapton
3) Jimmy Page
5) Jeff Beck
6) B.B. King
8 ) Eddie Van Halen
12) Stevie Ray Vaughan
14) David Gilmour
20) Carlos Santana
22) Frank Zappa
23) Buddy Guy

I think Prince at #33 and Randy Rhoads at #36 should both be ranked higher, and Alex Lifeson deserves much better than #98. I was surprised that Springsteen even made the list, albeit at #96, because he's usually left off these things, and I think he's sorely underrated. But for him to be on the list and Nils Lofgren left off just isn't right, IMO; no Peter Frampton or Steve Vai, either.

No offense intended to Paul Crook, but I wouldn't expect to see him on one of these lists, as he's just not well-known enough. Many of the guitarists on the lists have been influential to other musicians, and I just don't think he fits in that category.
