My thoughts
Couldn't Have Said It Better (5)
One of the standout tracks. I'm certainly not the first to say that this can be a number one hit. I've played it over and over. This song I think is about the right length.
Did I Say That (5)
Already listened to this song a lot of times since it started making its way around the internet at the end of last year. I wish it had done better in Germany.
Why Isn't That Enough (4)
Great song, although I'm not so sure about the structure. It takes a while to get to the really strong part.
Love You Out Loud (4)
A bit more of a `straight ahead rock song' in terms of sound, but the lyrics are something I can really relate to.
Man Of Steel (5)
This was one of the songs I heard before the album was released so I knew it wouldn't be as long as the liner notes stated. However, I feel that a song of this `epicness' could easily be made longer. It is my favourite. Great lyrics.
Testify (5)
This song is a little different to what Meat has done before, but after a while I realised that I shouldn't be so surprised after all. Meat first did gospel with "Stoney and Meat Loaf" in the early 70s. A great fun song with a great rhythm.
Tear Me Down (4)
Great lyrics. On the BBC Radio performance recently, the ending of the spoken part was changed to something like "He was in Fight Club and has big tits"!!!!!
You're Right, I Was Wrong (3)
Because Of You (3)
These I feel are the weakest songs on the album lyrically, but Meat and the others really spruce them up. Songs that could have been performed by anyone.
Do It! (5)
I knew that there would almost certainly be some Meat fans who would reject anything that wasn't the traditional 'Meat', but I can't stop listening to this song. I love this intense short burst of energy, it reminds me of Meat at the beginning of Storytellers when he performs the last minute of All Revved Up. Sometimes I skip ahead to this song.
Forever Young (5)
I haven't heard the original so I can't comment on that, but the heights that Meat goes to in this song almost makes you wanna cry...sniff...
Mercury Blues (3)
I love the idea of a hidden track. Not everyone knows about it before the album comes out, and I have heard a lot of people with other albums who say they've simply turned off their cd players because they thought there was nothing else. I think this is a great fun song. It is the closest to a `band' song because it features Meat, Mark, Kasim, Patti and John.
For me, this is probably Meat's best non-Jim album, alongside Bad Attitude.
