One thing I DIDN'T like about Pud's posts (apart from the fact that Pud felt the need to post after a clear request not to do so
) was this.

That kind of attitude not only makes my job here much more difficult, but shows complete disrespect for the forum and total disregard of it's moderators.Quite simply it's not on.
I'm all for injecting a little humour into a serious thread to lighten the atmosphere, but that isn't humour, that's being rude.
As i've already explained, the conversation began in public and hiding it would not gain us much apart from getting the PM jungle drums going.
My ruling WAS working.Many of the people who had posted had been by the thread, read the ruling, respected the ruling and abided with the ruling by not posting.If everybody did that then I am very confident that this could have been fully resolved in a very short space of time, rather than what has happened, that i've locked the thread, nothing more can be said.Nothing solved.Nothing resolved.
At the end of the day, that thread began a long time ago on a forum that I don't moderate.It was landed on my desk very late in the day when all meaning had already bailed.
I tried to moderate it, but without the co-operation of the whole membership, open moderation is doomed to fail and we have to revert to barking orders at people and locking threads.That doesn't make a forum a fun place to visit
I just hope that if I feel the need to use open moderation again it will be listened too.
