It's not actually a Windows thing, it's more an Internet Explorer thing: go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, and scroll down to the multimedia section. Just uncheck 'Enable Automatic Image Resizing' and all images stay their original size.
On the other hand, if you hover with your mouse over the image, after some seconds a big ugly button should appear in the lower left-hand corner. Push that one to get back to the original size.
