Meatloaf admits 'cheating death'
Meat Loaf has spoken about his dramatic on-stage collapse and heart surgery, and admitted: "I cheated death."
The singer was diagnosed with a potentially fatal heart condition after collapsing in the middle of a concert at London's Wembley Arena.
He underwent an operation to correct the defect and has spent the last two weeks recovering.
At a press conference, the 52-year-old singer said he is lucky to be alive after doctors discovered he had Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a condition which causes an irregular heart beat.
"In a sense I guess I cheated death because of the condition I had," he said.
"The last two weeks have been fairly scary and unlike anything I've gone through before."
Meat Loaf also revealed he had been unwell throughout the summer, but was determined to perform in the UK despite suffering dizziness and fainting spells during earlier gigs in Europe and America.
