Whilst the addition of "new" live tracks is a step forward and a major change from including yet another live version of Bat Out Of Hell (which don't get me wrong, of course is a great song, (understatement
)).
I do think that the inclusion of live tracks on a cd single is something of a cop out these days. There used to be a timew when the "B Side" of a single was something rare and properly previously unreleased. Usually a song that didn't make it onto an album.
Ok so these B Sides were perhaps slightly sub-standard (hence the fact they didn't make it onto the final album track selection). But they gave the single buying fan something new, something different.
It's a sad indictment of the state of the music busisness as a whole that CD singles these days rarely contain something that is wholly new and original as the additional track(s).
Having said all that it's not going to stop me buying Man Of Steel on Monday
