He finally got back doing what he loved the most. By that time Elvis was sick and tired of making the same crap movies over and over again.
The 68 comeback show is great. There are many great 'video bootleg' shows from the early 70's till the last show showing what an incredible performer he was.
If you ever get the chance watch the Aloha from Hawaii 'rehearsel' show. It was recorded the night before the famous satelite show. It's oficially released as a bonus wth the Aloha DVD and Elvis is much more relaxed on stage as he was on 'the night' itself.
