I think even things like fan videos from concerts can be used to an artist's advantage too. I know after watching videos from Meat's concerts I decided that he was an artist I'd have to go and see live and I wouldn't be surprised if other fans and fans of other artists have done the same thing.
There are things on YouTube I think are wrong but if they took everything like concert videos, fan tributes and interview footage off, which are technically copyrighted material then YouTube would just be about random videos of people doing stupid things or showing off about how wonderful they think they are.
File sharing services have their uses outside of supporting illegal downloads and people use them to send friends all kinds of large documents, family photos and that sort of stuff so it is a shame when they are shut down.
