Hmm...now what is considered "proper"?
It's not my favorite, but I do make and eat it, and it involves soaking rock hard peas from a cellophane bag, ham bones, perfectly sized little pieces of carrots and potatoes....little chunks of delicious ham (hence the ham bone).....lots of freshly ground black pepper....
ah, jeez, Mel! You've made me want to go get the stuff to make a pot!
