It is utterly bad.
1st, it reads exactly like a cheap cash in B movie screenplay.
2nd, it doesn't cover the really interesting bit which would be seeing Lector in his practice begining to kill people regularly and then getting caught.
Utterly forgettable, commercial trash.
In a sense, the film is a very good adaptation of it, in that it is also utterly forgettable commercial trash.
Not sure if I'm writing forgettable correctly there, but I can't be bothered to go back and correct it either way
