Absolutely .. (although good delegation isn't simply a case of barking orders like Hatch

.. and in short-term projects a good leader will often help out with delivery where there's a problem as long as he/she can see that other areas are coping well) .. But when you delegate you pass on responsibility, not accountability; that's something that continues to rest with the leader. If you delegate and the person fails to deliver it's usually your head on the block ultimately as the manager who chose what to delegate and to whom.
