Well, let me say it this way:
I do think that all members will use this tool wisely (ok, i'm ignoring the fight club here). Why do I think this?

Well, as you already found out, the "Ignored by" and "Disallow" feature always show that you are "ignored" by someone else.
And exactly this will make people think about "ignoring" or "disallowing" somebody else. This coin has two sides and both are visible all the time.

On the other hand, I think that a buddylist is quite useful and a standard feature of modern BB software. If you post lots of PMs, then use the buddylist for "easy-addressing". Give this a try, add some users to your buddylist, then compose a PM. You'll find a button called "Buddies". Click on it - you'll find out the rest for yourself.

The "Disallow function" was actually requested more than once and basically allows to reject private messages.
Nothing more - nothing less, another standard forum software feature.

At the end of the day, you decide for yourself how you "act" in this virtual community.
If you ask for freedom of speech you could also ask for freedom of choice regarding what you want to "see" in this community.
Now you can.
