I remember hearing some great versions from the Born in the USA tour on bootlegs (quite rarely played it in those days) and those were amazing too as Bruce repeated the final chorus again during the instrumental bit towards the end. And then of course there are the Darkness tour ones where the piano played straight into Thunder Road, spine tingling stuff...

You are very lucky you were there!

I, of course, think the version I heard live (Harley Anniversary) is the best (and it is a great one- one of the longest outros), but we're splitting hairs here.
But yeah, those Darkness boots- that whole stretch of
Prove It-> Racing-> Thunder Road-> Jungleland- just awesome!

In fact, I was just listening to Passaic... the Indian story...
I also like the
Once Upon a Time in the West intro Roy did before
Badlands on the River Tour. I wish he would have revived it for the Dream tour, since he was opening with
Badlands anyway; picture this- you hear Roy's piano on a dark stage as the rest of the band comes out, then you hear Bruce shout "ONE, TWO!" and they crash into
Badlands as the lights come up.... That would have been amazing! And then
Outlaw Pete to follow.
I think he did it once, somewhere, but it was Nils on accordian- not quite the same.
