I rest my case.
It's never been something we have
encouraged , but we have in the past (if I recall) let people have threads concerning sponsored events they are taking part in.
I think we've even stickied those threads for a week or so.
It's not something we've really had a problem with.
Also consider that this guy never
actually asked for money.
He asked for advice (hey guys, what can I do), but it was pretty obvious what he wanted.
Then when he PM'd people who offered help, he did not PM them asking them for money (as I understand) rather he was asking "so what are you doing to help me?".
We can ban people from asking for money (and this guy wouldn't even technically come under that category), but we can't exactly ban people for being generous to somebody they think is in need.
It's something for the staff to think on.
