I think that what Andrew was missing in the QVC piece was Loaf conviction! Go back and watch this:

It really takes off on the line '...starting to foam in the heat'!

And he has that look in his eyes, he surveys the crowd (or even the camera and the people at home), and he delivers a performance like he IS that performance. It never feels forced, never looks anything but natural, the vocals blow you away, and before you know it you're smiling from ear-to-ear thinking 'man, this kicks ass!'
