Smile An old love rediscovered - a YouTube tale

In several threads on this forum there have been discussions regarding YouTube videos recently being removed on request by Red Pony Tours. I'm not going to elaborate on whether this is good or bad, neither favor nor condemn unapproved uploads / copyright infringement. I just want to tell a little story and I'll leave it to you how to interpret it. That's why I'm deliberately posting this in a seperate thread, the mods may forgive me.

At the end of the 1990s, I suddenly lost interest in Meat Loaf, I can't tell why. I still liked his music, enjoyed his amusing TV appearances at that time, loved his performance in Fight Club (my favorite movie) but I wasn't really a "fan" anymore. He was just one artist among many others.

On a rainy night a few years ago, I accidentally stumbled over a video on YouTube that featured a f*cking cool guitar player. I kept watching the video because of that guy. Suddenly the singer of the band showed up and I thought: "Good Lord, it's Meat Loaf!" He looked a little different, had obviously gained some weight again but his performance was one of the best I had ever seen. Since the clip appeared to be a professional shot, I tried to find out where it was from. A few hours later I purchased a DVD called Meat Loaf live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - it became one of my favorite concert DVDs.

I got hooked to Meat Loaf again, spent countless nights watching Meat Loaf videos on YouTube, discovered a lot of exciting stuff I had never seen before. (Yeah, I know there are better things to do at night and dragging yourself to the office being extremely tired is not good. ) During the last three years I have spent more money on Meat Loaf vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, concert tickets than I ever did before.

It was YouTube (and the amazing Paul Crook ) that turned me into a Meat Loaf fan again.

Thanks for reading this tiresome novel. Tomorrow, when the effect of the chocolate punch has ceased, I'll probably kick myself for revealing this.
