There's probably a lot of truth in that.
Meat IS recognised first and formost as a singer.
It's like Randy Travis, he's been in approx 30 films, but when you hear his name you think "singer" and I imagine that's not an easy thing for someone to get over who is looking for more movie roles.
When a director is thinking who he can cast for a film, the last thing he's going to think is "I wonder if Steve Tyler facies doing some acting?"
Meat has said though that he will turn down a part if the character doesn't challenge him in some way, and that he's had a lot of offers he never took, so you never know what he had the option to play
