ROCK legend Meat Loaf will be between the posts at St.James' Park later this month as he helps to raise money for the Toma Fund.

The chart-topping star will don his goalie gloves as he attempts to save penalty-kicks in front of inflatable goals set up inside the club's Family Enclosure.

Toon legend Peter Beardsley will be there and you can too by taking part in a charity auction set up by the Evening Chronicle.

The 100 highest bidders (* see below) will be able to take aim against the superstar when he makes his special fundraising trip to Tyneside on Wednesday, June 25.

Winners will get a photo with Meat Loaf and, those who manage to find the back of the net, will also bag two tickets and a merchandising certificate towards goods at his outdoor show at Castle Howard, Yorkshire, on July 11.

The Toma Fund was set up last year following the death of Magpie Academy youngster Jordan Thompson.

Jordan, whose nickname was Toma, was diagnosed with leukaemia at 13 and, during a 19-month battle, decided he wanted to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

After his death, mum Andrea set up the fund in his name to continue his good work.

David Williamson, executive director operations at Newcastle United, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Meat Loaf to St James's Park.

"He is a true legend in the entertainment industry, indeed he is a unique performer.

"His generosity is helping raise money for charity, particularly the recently launched Toma Fund, is greatly appreciated by all of us here at Newcastle United. I'm sure we're set for a terrific day."

Proceeds from the event will also go to cancer charity Maggie's which aims to set up a Cancer Care Centre for the North East of England.
