Talking Bat UK's #1 Driving Song

MoneyExpert.com - Blues and country music fans 'most dangerous drivers' - 22/04/2008

Drivers wanting to protect their no-claims policy on their car insurance would do well to avoid listening to blues or country music, it has been revealed.

Saga Motor Insurance has found that Bat Out of Hell by Meat Loaf is the nation's favourite driving song, followed by Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

However, the firm has also revealed that fans of blues music are the most likely drivers to be caught speeding, followed by country music lovers or reggae listeners.

Country or classical music fans are more likely than easy listening or reggae lovers to have a minor accident, it also found.

Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga Group, remarked that despite constantly updating music charts, people still prefer to listen to "golden oldies" while driving.

"Although certain types of music are often thought of as having a relaxing effect on the listener, there is no proof that this results in a more tempered driving style," he said, adding that "being careful about staying within the law is of the upmost importance".

The average comprehensive car insurance premium stands at £682, according to the AA, which is £3 less than the end of 2007 but over £37 more than this time last year.
