This reply made just check all the different board styles available. I'm typing this in a STDsubSilver layout - white and gray it appears to be, while on a tab (Mozilla!) I have a the standard/default(?) subSilver look (which I like the best) and a plain horrible purple/pink (subPink) one on another.

First off, I didn't realize you could change the board look before I posted my initial reply. I knew it was possible, but I hadn't checked it out so I didn't know there were such visual crimes as the pink/purple and starry/spaced out interface.
People who design such pieces of worthless graphical user interfaces should be punished. People who use said interfaces too, if you ask me.

Blue on purple is, from a design point of view, a complete no-no. And personally, I find the purple background a bigger offence to my eyes than the blue. On my grey background, it is clearly readable. That's why I made my first reply, cause I could absolutely not see what Heather ment.

So to conclude: a question.
If you choose to use a purple interface for the forum, and someone else chooses to post in blue, whose problem is it really?

Nothing personal or so, but I just felt like butting in ;-) <- and that's a big wink to all of you! :)
