False logic.
The police (I dare say) do not sit around on PC's all day looking on youtube for copyrighted material.
But if the owner of copyrighted material comes across said material posted for free on the net without prior agreement and concent with that copyright holder, they that holder has a legal right to demand that the material is withdrawn.
Now let's be realistic here, a
LOT of what is posted on youtube is copyrighted material, and posted by somebody with no legal right to do so.
Most of the legal copyrighters will never know it's up there.
Some of them know and just don't care.
But some of them see their legal property being shared openly for free and decide "that is mine, I might want to use that one day to make money", they'll send a cease and disist notice to youtube, and if that vid is not removed, YOUTUBE WILL BE PROSECUTED.
I know it's not a
real crime, or a
serious crime, but it
is a crime, and where lawyers are involved, and money to be made, spitting on the sidewalk is a capital offence.
