As for your present problems with typing! As I only use one finger to type I can't quite see the problem
I don't think a parrot is a good idea as they live a very very long time and can be quiet demanding!
A budgie may be a good idea as they always suck seed (suceed
) oryou could try bribing/blackmailing friends to type for you.
