Meat was at least looking great with his cool goatee! He looked much healthier for some reason and seems pumped up for all the Bat III promotion.

I'm late on throwing in my two cents but figured what the heck (after reading all the various Idol posts here), why not....I THINK (therefore its just an opinion and could be wrong!) that Meat was wanting his and Katherine's performance to come off as something to the effect of two old lovers running into each other after some time apart. At first, feeling ackward (thus keeping on opposite sides of the stage with distance between them), but then once the memories of the old relationship come flooding back, they join together in the middle of the stage, falling into that 'familiar old feeling' once again, but then 'coming to' and realizing they are no longer a couple, thus going slightly distant again, although right at the end, lingering closer but yet not as close together as they were at first.

But the problem is, Katherine didnt seem to have that ability to relay that 'longing look' while they were far apart from each other, and looked more like a deer caught in headlights and seemed to be wanting to reach her center stage mark sooner then later. Her voice sounded great though, she just didn't have that same ability that we're used to with Patti to relay the emotions and depth of a song with more then just her voice. Meat, I agree, didn't start the song out so well, but be it a sound problem or whatever, that did definitely seem to remedy itself when Katherine came out. Maybe he found the key he needed once her singing started, since his ear piece probably wasn't helping him to do that. But having been onstage in front of just a few hundred people myself, let alone thousands, I know how stressful it can be and I commend anyone who can do it, and with only one rehearsal under their belts at that. So my hat's off to him. And the goal was achieved with this - pre-promotion for the upcoming album and possibly new fans! Cool! :)
