I don't see what either Chris or Dottie has to apologise for. It wasn't the joke that was over the top (although it was getting up there) it was peoples reactions to it that was going over the top.
If some people feel injured by it, then tough, perhaps they should learn not to over-react to something that was obviously a wind up from the start.
