None of these things can be found in the ways mentioned above. It's the boy's way of saying that his heart is not in the relationship and that the girl has to stop looking for love where it doesn't exist. He wants her, he needs her but he can never love her.

I've always interpreted these lyrics a bit differently, maybe I'm wrong, but this group of lyrics seems to be a slightly more poetic version of the needle in a haystack cliche. There may be gold on a beach, may be rubies in rocks, may be oil in city streets, but are very difficult to find. Which is rather like true love, if you think about it.
