Some of the worst injury's you've ever had
well ...... :angst:
for me:
|
a stupid one:
in school-sport: Felt ill and didnt take part, so I was sitting on the bench in the stadium, while everybody else ran around and played football. At the end of the lesson I stood up tripped over a lil stone and broke a bone in the foot  while everyone else who DID the sport wanst hurt at all.... that's me  |
I once fell over and headbutted the corner of the doorstep causing a large hole in my forehead which, after they had finished getting the bits of broken skull out of it, was patched with plastic.
When about 9 I stuck a full size garden fork through my welly and announced that despite coming out of the bottom, and blood gushing out of the boot, that perhaps i had missed my foot. I hadnīt but did miss all the muscles, tendons, bones, nerves adn major blood vessels. My maths teacher put me in traction for a week by whacking a hockey ball into my lower back (by accident) a week after I broke her little finger in a dodgy tackle. I once hit my self in the forehead with the till drawer so hard that i was knocked unconscious. And finally, in trying to escape a big scarey dog when on a paper-round, I vaulted a big gate and sprained both ankles and dislocated botha knee and shoulder landing ona concrete pad next to the soft pile of hay! |
when I was about 13 or 14, sewing needle snapped off inside inside my knee (unknown to me, but after an 90 mile bike ride two weeks later (push bike) my nan said to my dad "his knee's swollen". luckily it hadn't got infected, but it took three hours to get out, as it was buried underneath the patella. Had six weeks off school, although never rode long distances again (well 70 miles.. my limit).

 The obvious one has got to be swallowing a balistic dart fired from an air pistol so I could catch the dart between my teeth
Last injury was on Friday at work. I have a new fav place to sing in The Cuckoo. I like to run off the stage, jump on a chair, bouce off the chair, land on the ornimental railings at the end of the bar, and sort of hang backwards off them while i'm standing on the bar (while i'm still singing) Friday, I jumps backward off the bar, and instead of my knees bending and absorbing the shock, my right leg locked, and so hit the floor as rigid as a mop pole. It hurt a wee bit  But you can't keep those happy feet still for long  |

Forgot the classic: running into a glass-door  happened to me once or twice.. |
Does a major blow to the ego count??? Had plenty of those!!!
|
im very luck, i always get away with minor injuries
|
I forgot, I once was putting a new TV stand ont he wall for the parents. I remembered to check horizontally and vertically for electrics, positioned the drill, squeezed the trigger and landed on the other side of the now shattered bedroom window behind me.
The moral of the story is obviously to make sure you check the other side of any internal wall for electrics! |
thats shocking

Went ice skating when i was 19, was skating round with my best mate holding my sleeve, yes, my sleeve, not my hand, and my stupid ex-husband decided to show off and skate under our arms and come up between us. Unfortunately, just as he skated under our arms, we came together and I ended up with a comminuted fracture of the right wrist.

Broke my leg trying to ski down some double diamond black moguls in -20
Had a 150KG spring that was being reheated in molten lead land on my arm My daughter ran into my nuts last week, 2 days after my vasectomy Pud  |
The last time my kneecap dislocated (they like to do that):
When i was in sixth form three years ago i had finished lesson, everyone had virtually gone except teacher. Chairs don't fit under the tables, so i was squeezing between them, right kneecap caught table leg and out it came. Teacher and two other girls who heard what was happening managed to get me into a chair, and ambulance was called. Knee normally goes back in of its own free will, but it wasn't going to this time. Kept getting spasms up leg and knee travelled further and further around from where it should be. Was out for twenty minutes before ambulance came, gave me some morphine and popped it back in again. Was taken to hospital as a precaution, Mam was phoned at work telling her i was in hospital but not why I was in, so she was panicked until she found out it was just my knee. It may not be an injury that leaves a scar or takes ages to get better, but it bloody hurts!!!! |

Oh god...where do I begin...
The most memorable ones: 1. Impaled my leg on rusted barbed wire while climbing the fence as a kid...took some work to get me off it without ripping my leg off. 2. Was skiing in the cordoned off military base as a kid, underestimated the distance and height of the hill, my skis went under the barbed wire and I got stuck flush with the barbed wire fence... And yes, if anybody wonders where the hell I grew up...I grew up near the Citadel...and yes, I did climb the bunkers as a kid too... |
Aged 4 I sliced my right ring finger helping my Grandmother dry wine glasses. I fell off the stool I was using to reach the draining board and the glass broke - slicing my finger. Needed 5 stitches.
Broke my right foot folk dancing when i was 12. Wrenched my right ankle getting into a car - caught it on the floor mat- a year later. Now sporting a lovely 9" scar on the right side of my abdomen as a result of a kidney transplant before Xmas. Do you think I should start abusing the other side of my body |
How could I forget falling down with the glass still holding it in my hand as it shattered into bezillion pieces cutting my palm?

Tore the cartilage in my knee playing tennis. My knee kept locking and anyone else here who's suffered that knows how excrutiatingly painful it is!
Not really an injury as such, more an accident, but when I was a toddler I fell head first into a large water filled tub which had been sunk into the ground and nearly drowned. Apparently by the time my parents noticed I was missing and pulled me out I'd turned blue and stopped breathing. Gave them a scare but I was too young to remember anything about it. Beggars belief why anyone would be stupid enough to sink a large tub into the ground in the first place! Diane |
Not the worst, but perhaps the most bizarre to explain was the hugest black eye I've seen on anyone, that the dog gave me when he was a puppy. Then there's the stiches in my elbow which class as the most painful (even worse than coming off my push bike onto crossbar  ) I've had. Broke a nail too once ;-)
|
Here I go, laughing in the face of tempted fate...but I've never really had an injury  I've done the usual stuff like stubbing my toe, burns, cuts but nothing to cause a serious injury...(had a rubber removed from my nose once too but I was only 6 and that kinda thing's allowed when you're 6)
Believe it or not the most painful "accident" I've had was last year and I was stung by a wasp. I felt something fall onto my hair so I put my hand up to my head (without looking) and ended up picking the wasp up between my fingers...turns out they don't like it when you do that... My most stupid injury was a few years ago, walking through the high street on my way to the school I was working at. Had a big bag on my left shoulder and the strap fell down, so I reached up with my right hand to pull it back up, which is perfectly normal except that my right hand decided to smack itself into this absolutely hideous metal dog statue I was walking past and I ended up in A&E with a severely briused hand, though I think the humiliation probably hurt more! |
I always say that all women are the same...

I was running around the house screaming "Fire!!! Fire!!!" for whatever reason..and I was 4 not 6...same difference... Quote:

And I am not even accident prone...:( |

I'll never forget the time I sat on a bee when I was a kid. Don't think the bee was too happy about that either! Diane |
