I was just wondering which songs of Meat Loaf's have been covered by other artists. I know of two......... Barry Manilow- Read 'em and weep and Bonnie Tyler- Two out of three ain't bad.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band did a cover of Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad. Still haven't managed to track this down myself yet though.

Sarah Geronimo did a cover of I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Wont Do That)

Karla DeVito did an amazing version of Heaven Can Wait.

Russel Watson did Is Nothing Sacred?

I assume you mean Boyzone doing No Matter What? That was actually before Meat's version. Johnny B. Goode is a song originally by Chuck Berry from the 1950's. It's been done by THOUSANDS of people.

Oh, and Zina - you do realaise Ms Streisand's version of LITD was 11 years before Meat's, right? ;)

I did know that Elaine Caswell was before Meat with IACBTMN - didn't put it in...

Gotta give you props for that one. Elaine was also before Celine (who was also before Meat, but we're not allowed to say that out loud ;))

Yes she is. The Pandora's Box version is still the best version out there, in my opinion. There are two (count 'em) fantastic gutar solos, and the best background vocals I've ever heard. I really wish MEat had done something similar with his version, but hey-ho - that's a conversation that's already been worn out.

Anyway, my head hurts, so I'm off to bed (after all, it's 3:20 am here! :shock: )

that brings us back to the old arguement what´s a cover and what isnt....

well i have always considered a cover to be a song delivered by anybody but the very first person to perform it

That's what I consider cover too...no matter how successful or otherwise the original artist was...

JIm Steinman is the best example.
He gives the same songs to a number of people, but which is a cover?
The one that wasnt recorded at first?
The one that wasnt published at first?
Think of No matter what, what´s the original? Meat? Buyzone? the WdtW cast album?
On the other hand there´s the problem that Jim is 'cutting' every song he produces together from earlier songs, or pieces of songs, published or not published.
The you got the things with the demos too.
I gave up to try to get to know which Steinman song is a cover/original.

That's how I would decide if a song was a cover or not...who recorded No Matter What first, Boyzone or Meat? I'm inclined to say Boyzone...
