5. Jim - Stark Raving Love

Stark Raving Love (7)

I have to agree with Meat. It isn't the best song on the album. But I'd listen it in Meat's performance. I love that part where two guitars are wrangling.
I think this melody is much better in "Holding Out For A Hero". Later...

Did you know the song "The Dark" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. At beginning of this song's like Original Sin and the middle's like this guitars wrangling. You have to listen this song!

My score: 7

This is a great song! Think Meat should do it better, but still......

Great lyrics, indeed great guitar playing and typical steinman.

8/10

I really like this song!!!! Love the melody of the verses and the lyrics that go with them! but the highlight for me is the instrumental at the end, the 3 minute one. I love all Jim's instrumentals, but this is one of my top 5 at least!!!! Just the screaming guitars that make me wonder just how the hell can anyone write a song so.....well.....it's loud, it's rock, it's electric guitars, but Jim can make them sound beautiful, whereas I don't think anyone else can. If you know what I mean about electric guitars sounding beautiful :D

This song has the ultimate Guitar duel at teh end of it.... I'd love to see Meat perform it live on this tour and then he could leave the stage and let Paul and Randy battle it out for half an hour or so

There's an actual story to that guitar. You all know that "Bad for Good" is centred around the legend of Peter Pan? How it's set in the modern day? Jim intended this album to be a "concept" for a multi-million dollar movie version (called "Neverland") which was to be directed by Steven Spielberg. One of Peter's many weapons was a cosmic, superhuman guitar that made unearthly and powerful noises - even killed its enemies with "searing glissandos" - and they even show the guitar on the front cover of the album. The solo in "Stark Raving Love" is actually (theatrically) Peter experimenting with this great weapon. I think it rox!!

really awesome. i never knew that. does Steinman ever take his musicals around the world, Ryan? I have the "Imperial Theatre" where I live, i've been to a few musicals and plays in me life, but music never compared with Steinmans. (and that's a fact)

Both "Tanz der Vampire" and "Whistle Down the Wind" are his most renowned efforts. The others, while artistically brilliant, are obscure and have only been rarely performed (even then, in their original seasons).
You should ask Fireball about "More Than You Deserve" or the Jim Steinman site about "The Dream Engine". I'm afraid, none of his shows are tourist attractions - but I hope that changes with "Batman".

Oh, come on Jim and get DOTV and Batman over here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D Actually, not too early, our Empire's getting shut down in April this year for a £7million revamp until December. But obviously knowing my city the company'll not get the job done on time so someone else'll have to finish it, then the second company won't be happy with pay and will go on strike, and by the time it's finished they'll probably have ruined the interior of the auditorium  I'm warning you at the council, you dare touch that beautiful interior you'll have me to answer to!!!
