August 16th 1977 we lost one of the most wonderful human beings that ever graced this earth, Elvis Aron Presley. Only 42 and still had so much going for him. He will always be in my heart and prayers.

Elvis died 16th August, that's upsetting enough without all these storys like I saw him here, there and everywhere. Lisa has spoken about that in the latest DVD, Elvis By The Presleys and it reduced me to tears as she talks about the last moment she had with her father, it was pretty moving stuff and if I'm not mistaken I saw a tear in her eye as she never talks about her father she prefers to keep that to herself and you could clearly see this was difficult and hard for her. I can also see how hurtful it can be for her when people claim to have seen him here, there and everywhere so please don't do it, it's so disrespectful, thanks.

The King gave so much pleasure to so many, many people. Without him, I wonder whether music as we know it today would have evolved in quite the same way? I wonder how many 'stars' from today's music industry will be remembered and respected so long after they are no longer with us?

I remember only too well the day that Elvis died. I came home from school to find mum in tears - he was her idol. Elvis was, and in many ways still is, a musical phenomena.

I'm afraid the age where artist had any king of longevity is gone :sad: (which in one way is a good thing, imagine listening to Hearsay for the next 40 years :yikes: )

But I blame TV shows like The X Factor and Pop Idol (more like Bone Idol).

The record guys have worked out, in the world of pop, that NOTHING sells like a debute album.
So why give anyone a follow up album when it's much better to just take another act out of the cloning machine and make a packet out of it before getting rid.

Single serving meal.
Single serving toiletries.
Single serving friend.
Single serving pop act.



Anyway, i've gone WAY off topic (sorry :oops: ) so to get back to it........

That´s just a trend, which has reached its peak now, some years and then the general public will be bored of it and a new taste of music will establish. This process is already starting, but you´ve gotta seach very very carefully to find the first signs, but it definitely will come.
