ENG-POR: 0-1

Portugal won on penalties. Really ashame England didn't get through (yes I'm saying that even though I am Scottish!).
Surely someone is going to beat those annoying Portugese!!!!!

(Technically the thread title score isn't correct, I thought I'd just make it 1-0 for Portugal to make it clear they won).

hayley 01 Jul 2006 20:50

so sad :(

Ben 01 Jul 2006 20:59

I was nearly right :lmao:

I think your right Pud, even though this match against Portugal was close, I doubt England would have stood a chance against France if they played like the way they played tonight. France were on fire!

Ross 02 Jul 2006 05:27

Very dissapointed....:-(

AndrewG 02 Jul 2006 09:46

Do you guys think it is fair the press is blaming Sven?
I think it is a childish myself.

Pudding 02 Jul 2006 10:08

I think the press are right to blame Sven for some part of England losing. He went into the World Cup still not knowing who his best 11 are and still not knowing what the best formation was 4-5-1 WTF? he should have had 2 strikers up front from the start. Sven also should have utilised ALL his players in his squad if they were that good i.e. Theo Walcott :tard:

Pud

RadioMaster 02 Jul 2006 10:16

Now you can support Germany!!!
We will beat Portugal for you! Well, if France doesnīt before...
But if we will beat ém too! Just for you UKers!

AndrewG 02 Jul 2006 11:54

I'd prefer France to win. The way they played yesterday was awesome IMO. Proper football.

RadioMaster 02 Jul 2006 12:29

I know why England lost:

Long time ago...,1966 in Wembley to be specific,
A huge unjustness occured in the world of football. The team from a land called "England", tried to score a goal against the famous German team, but as it was always, they didnīt score.
They were so mad, that they made a pact with the devil: A goal, which naturally wasnīt one, was scored. The devil made adjudicator look away and "England" won the World Cup.

At the same time in heaven:The God of Football, Sepp Herberger, saw this injustness against Godīs chosen team and he was so angry about it, that he cursed England forever and for always.
With a voice like rolling thunder he said:
"This team, which pacted with the davil, will lose everytime when they have to do a penalty, until they confess in front of the whole world that the Wembley goal wasnīt one. So it will be"

And so it is still today.

Now you know what you have to do...

WTF?!

England kicked Germany's ass in Euro 2000 (Although both teams did not make it past the group stages!). Germany's only achievement in that tournemant was a draw with Romania!

Mick Loaf 03 Jul 2006 03:20

Portugal are not very good and will be out next round. England will now go through a period of blaming everyone they can. The truth was they weren't good enough at this time. I think they have a lot of promise but really lack something in the team spirit dimension. Just my opinion, but I think if Steve McClaren can improve and foster a real sense of team about England that they could win Euro 2008. As for Germany 2006, I can't see past Italy.

Pudding 03 Jul 2006 04:10

When you have the England manager calling Wayne Rooney the Golden Boy of English soccer and having him up front on his own, it makes you wonder what the other 10 players are meant to do. Sven pinned all his hopes on Rooney, instead of the team as a whole, and that's where England is going wrong.

Pud

AndrewG 03 Jul 2006 10:04

To be fair Lampard sucked big time during all the matches IMO.

Pudding 03 Jul 2006 11:31

Out of all the players to take a penalty, he shouldn't have been one of them, I doubt he could have scored in a brothel
