Live In Melbourne DVD - My thoughts...
Hi!
This is my first posting. I just wanted to say that although I have been a "fan" since as far back as I can remember... In that as a youngster I remember watching Meat and Cher do "Dead Ringer", heard Bat 1 on the radio all the time (even bought it eventually!!).. Clearly remember the video for "Midnight at the lost and found", loved Bat 2 when it came out...!, have owned the singles DVD for ages etc. etc.. my point??? Ok I admit it - I've never yet been to a live concert! ouch!!! I hope to rectify that one day, Meat permitting!! He has played in Scotland a few times after all throuought his career! My point of posting is, I just got the Melbourne DVD (I know I got it later than everyone else in here...) but.. wow did it blow me away!! I have about a hundred music DVD's - but this is pure rock and roll theatre - and what a performance from Meat!!! I can't get enought of it! I wish I had seen this tour.. there is always hope.. Anyway point of my post is to just say I think its a fantastic DVD - the commentary track is fun enough in itself!! (Especially everytime Meat glimpses CC!! hahah)... For someone his age - he blows everyone else out the water!! More talent in his pinkie than in some twenty-something pop star wannabes of today!!! Long may he reign!!! |

Response!
hahah Just I've been watching this DVD all week and had to share my views with the real fans over here! Great resource here by the way - reading up all the news on Bat 3 and of course Fireballs posts!! Great that he actually takes the time to pop in here now and again and what's more - answer people's questions - not many stars actually bother to do that today - and I visit a lot of other music stars websites!

Have fun here, great site! R. PS: for comprehensibility: the common abbreviation for the Melbourne DVD is around here just MSO. |
And I register the first after motions vote for the best first posting.
You started very well with the MSO; it was Meat at his best and most dymanic. Can't help but notice that your ID is Mr. Plant - like in a relative of Robert Plant of rock'n'roll fame? |
Just a moniker - absolutely no relation to the Real Mr P unforuntately!! ;-(
MSO - noted!!! ;-) |
I have to agree...My wife and I have the Melbourne DVD playing so much, I'm afraid we'll eventually destroy the disk, but who cares, this is one of the greatest shows in Rock and Roll history! I'm just glad Meat shared this performance with his fans. We got to see Meat in NY at the Beacon theatre last August and were in awe! We're hoping Meat will also tour for Bat 3 because we're dying to go see him live yet again. Long live Meat Loaf and the Melbourne DVD!

Welcome to the neighborhood, Mr. Plant. :))
Awesome post about the MSO dvd, I couldn't agree more! :)) J. |
I bought myself some dolby sorroud headphones last week and listened to the MSO DVD.
I heard things iīve never heard before on it. Like: In the middle of Frying pan, he sings "i gotta take you, i wanna take you" and so on. there is a girl in the audience screaming "Take me! Take me!" Just wanted to post it. R. |

I couldn't agree more ... the DVD is absolutely fantasic :)) And every time I've seen Meat in concert, he still amazes me ... I truly hope you get the opportunity to see him live when he tours for Bat 3 !! Welcome to the group Vicki |
I think that everyone around here thinks that the MSO DVD is the best concert DVD every?
Does somebody disagree? |

I agree it's the best concert out on DVD, both Dolby 5.1 and DTS tracks are superb, but the DTS grabs it, as the AUDIO isn't compressed like the dolby is, so if you can manage to hear the DTS track, I recommend it. The only disapointment to me, and it is only minor, is the bad pixelation the picture suffers at times, I think this is due to the type of cameras the filmakers used, but it could have been sorted by a higher bit rate when placed onto disc, but apart from that, really great DVD, and as far as I know, if you check on IMDB, you will find it hard to find another DVD concert what beats it's /10 rating, there is a few but not many. :D
|
I agree, for a while I thought Meat might have lost it a little with age but MSO was amazing- he's still got it, I love his performances especially the way he moves, it's pure passion.
|
Yeah.. the MSO DVD is amazing... it's incredible to see how Meat controls the crowd during "took the words" and I absolutely loved frying pan... mark alexander was brilliant on the piano and not to forget, Paul... this guys is a metal God.
P.S. I too have never been to a meat concert.. but with where I stay, I doubt I'll ever be able to see one. The only live one i've been to is Byran Adams. |
The big difference between Meatīs concerts and those of other "rockstars" is that he isnīt afraid to fall out of his role or play a little game like:
"Paradise....by...the dash-....-board... (to K. Levenson) I thing you hit the note a little bit early! Cut! Letīs go back! by the dash-...-board...light. Give him a big hand!!!" Or on storytellers: Patti sings: "Sooner or later youīll be screwing around!" Meat: "why did you say thet? Patti: Because thatīs the lyric! Meat: Oh, Okay, (sings) I wonīt do that!" Such things are great! I donīt know many other artists who are doing such things R. |
Absolutely Mr. Plant, Couldnt agree more......:D
